Can I collect the Black Box?

As the title suggests I am thinking about picking up a Black Box. But does the stock Sidewinder has a Cargo Scoop?
The mission is listed as available and doable, so that suggests I have one? I am not sure tbh.
Can someone clarify if I can pick up cargo with a stock Sidewinder?

You most likely do. Just assign a button to it, then select it while flying. If scoop deploys... wallah! Also, you can always look at your current ship's moduals by going to any outfitting dept on a station and look at your hard points/internals. Note the tabs along the top. Cheers.

Thanks, yeah it seems every ship has it. Thanks for your help. But I have another question unfortunaly:
Since the mission for the black box was over I took the mission to grab 3 Rebell communications. I guessed they would be at a Unidentified Signal Source. But there is none in that system. Any idea where I could looking for these? :)

Keep looking! In a populated system, you may need 15 to 20 tries before finding them. In an empty system, it's much easier (Because there are less interfering signals); usually, two or three USS are sufficient

Thx for the quick reply! But what do you mean with tries?

He means keep cruising around in SC. Also be sure to keep an eye on your left panel, Navigation tab, as often you may miss some USS with your eyeballs out the canopy.

I meant 15-20 attempts (Try 15-20 times, in different USS). The contents of an USS are random, so, keep trying :)

note that this was illegal for me and I got scanned and flagged as I entered the station.
dont remember the exact fine, the mission payed 13k for me and payment covered the fine easily.

Salvage missions are usually considered as illegal. You need to enter silent running before entering the station to avoid mandatory scan.
Be sure to enter silent running mode at least 4~5km away from station, turn off silent running right after you passed station entrance.
Also try not to get too close to the security vessel. They can still scan you if you're too close to them.

Quick tip on finding USS. Try to fly towards or away from the star/planets.

Yeah just found the rebel communications :D
Now I am sitting infront of the Orbital trying to get docking request.

It's an orbital and no vessels in sight. So the chance is pretty slim. But thanks for your tipps. I havn't tried an illegal mission on a space space station so far.

I have silent running on and they're still scanning... It's killing my local reputation, since the reputation hit on stolen cargo appears to outweigh any gain from completing the mission!

Any ideas? I tried shutting down lots of modules to get my temperature to zero but no luck... :(

I always accept "illegal" recovery missions at outposts only, since the chance of being scanned there is much lower.

I REALLY should ahve played mroe of the Beta and Gamma ^^

I hope this video helps.. anyways, if you're on silent running, it is still possible to scan warning pops up. you can just ignore that warning unless you're flying very close to authorities.

I did this mission last night
It's not to hard to do,
Go to the system keep searching the "Unidentified Signal Source" till you find the black box.
Use the cargo scoop to pick it up, might be an idea to practice this because you can destroy the black box if you hit it with your ship to many times.
Take it back to the station,
I didn't use "silent running"
1 just flu through the letterbox and landed as fast as I could.
Easy 13k :)

And don't forget to "fly casual"

I just let the fine me, often they take less than half the profit. Still easy money. Just follow beacons, until you find the unidentified signal. Approach slowly, deploy scoop, get, return, profit.
