Can i go to Sagitarius A on a whilm with a Beluga Liner ?

Never been to Colonia...Im thinking of going but I kind of turned myself off exploring by grinding passenger missions after they released. I spent a month, maybe more, doing nothing but that.

I need inspiration, haha.

Inspiration!! (That one is free)
Loads of cash for loads of jumps.
All sorts of beautiful vistas for amazing photo ops!

Do you have the ship for the job?
Which one? Whats your jump range?
Do yourself a favor, go minimal.
"D" rate whatever you can for weight Except for FSD.
Mod whatever you can b4 u go.
Biggest damn fuel scoop you can get your hands on!
Depending on ship, fighter bay. If you are just focusing on the trip they will be of no use.
SRV.... good to have 1.
AFMU!!!! doesn't need to be large if you have the resources to refill it/SRV to collect more.
WEAPONS ARE OF NO USE, boosters, point defense, ECM, all unnecessary! ( i went to "Beautiful Rings" and didn't see another soul until i got there, over 26,000Ly).

What inspired me, massive payout!!
Hit up a couple of the stations that you have really good standing with.
Check out those passenger missions. You may be able to find a reason(credits) to make the trip.
I have seen friggen enormous payouts for going to Colonia and Sag A*.
It is possible to get one way missions that pay out over 100 million! Single missions!
The sight seeing missions are round trip and may even be worth your time.
Make Sure Your Passengers Are Not Criminals or Wanted!!
Time, make sure that you have the time to invest. Lots of missions give you ample time. However, some obviously are a joke.
I saw a one-way trip to Colonia for like 23 million but it only gave you 24 hours! It could be done but damn!!!

Plan your trip.
Prep your ship.
Be ready when you go looking for the missions, I always see the best ones when I'm not ready or looking.
*Once you grab that first mission and begin the trip, hit a second and third station on your way out and try to grab up another mission!
May get lucky and score a second one to the same destination!

Lastly, if you use the Neutron Highway, be prepared. It can be rough. It can also be really cool........

There.
I think that is about it, what did i miss guys?

The return trip can be just as lucrative... but again, a crazy 23hr run lol

Ive gotten the massive payouts in prior exploration stints. Biggest was around 80m for a two way voyage. I tend to rush through them too fast and dont do enough exploring. I got burned out from seeing how fast I could make the journey
I gotta slow down and lay off of the space coffee.

I have a fully modded fsd on my conda, with an SLF ill get 50, without it, about 53ly.
Thats fully stripped, I even D rated my thrusters (5D last time i did a short range mission of 1000ly a few days ago)
The D rated thrusters make planetary landings...interesting.

I just hit 1k kills and got the achievement so I'll probably hit Colonia and the Great Annihilator. I saw Saga a while ago in my AspX.
I havent really done a whole lot of exploring since i got my conda, so Im going to go find some long range missions and get back into exploring

Risk vs. reward!

Neutron highway!!

Been to Colonia twice.
8 to 11 hours one way without the highway.

That kind of money would make the trip worth it.
In my conda, i could take all of those and then some!
Woooot!

Thats, let me count..., 1, 2, ,4, a lot of credits!!

Im off on another exploration gig. This thread has been inspirational!
I may risk the neutron highway this time, just to change things up. Never tried boosting off neutrons before so it should be an experience.
Going to the great annihilator and then Jacques.

That full cargo hold will really slow you down a lot.

Ill still make 28-33ly a jump unless i get the FSD class 5'd. Then it will be more!
130-140ly on the highway isn't too bad. Soo dangerous though.

*don't do it*

Ha ha you'r right ! During my trip and because my entering angle wasn't good enough a DA star make my ship flip so i was facing death in other words :s

If it happend just throttle at zero and let the monster push you away...

Just after i remember i took a break and a drink also... :p

Btw your exploration ship advices are just the perfect description of my Beluga. I have nothing to add.

Thx for the sweet comments guys... i though exploring wasn't for me... and i was wrong.

See Unicorn i wasn't so fast... 24 hours... damn ! But yeah without highways it was more a rush than a real exploration !

Let's say i'm more a voyager than an explorer. ^_~

It's not terribly hard to haul when exploring, as long as you don't mind making no money. I think I did about 20kly flying to Jaques to make it in time for the end of an exploration CG. That was before Neutron highways, too. Just be 100% aware that you will make NO money. If the faction I brought stuff to Jaques doesn't get a station, I may do it again, load up on passenger missions, then ride the highway out to Colonia for the 3rd (or is it 4th? Does stopping by there on the way back from Beagle Point count?) time.

Must say my Spaceline Pilot reconversion is a great success (even if it was a little difficult at start...).

Why it is a success ? Because exploring wasn't my thing at all before but now the customers are asking me to go there and there and i see beautiful things all the time !

So because there are some trip to Sagitarius A and Jacques station in the mission panel, sometimes a little voice say to me : "why not leaving the bubble with 2 or 3 passengers missions ?"

But my best distance out of the bubble (1377 ly) is a chip jump compare to Sag A !

So please what do i need to succeed such a crazy trip ??

Auto repair module ? Giant fish net ? (if attack by a giant space crab)

Also how not to turn crazy if like me after 1000ly you feel like you'r completly lost, alone and sad ? [weird]

Thx for your advices !!

I would definitely recommend 2 afmu's, an advanced discovery scanner, the best fuel scoop and fsd (engineered if you have time/patience for it) you can get (also best life support just in case). Also ditch every module you don't really need; and get as light weight on everything else as you can.

Next, you can only plot 1000ly at a time (I'd suggest bookmarks) and get some real life entertainment (i.e. Netflix, etc. on another device), this makes the light years pass quicker.

I recently returned from Sag A; kinda on a whim in my anaconda (hadn't done any long range exploration before). Took a passenger mission to "black and green". Was so close (5kly) to Sag A, I just went for it, came back via Jacques for a total of 72kly round trip. My advice comes from that experience.

Congrats on the successful trip!

I'm planning on going there soon in my Corvette. I know mine won't be the first Corvette to have travelled to Sag A, but it will be the first time mine has been there.

I've already made that trip once. In a Type 6.

Thanks youuu ! For an instant i thought that being near Sagittarius A horizon made me back in time ! :p

Anyway great advices again here but must say i didn't use my only class 4 AFMU yet (i'm still on my way back).

Btw if you have AFMU don't forget to have a stock of materials in order to reload it if necessary or/and a SRV in order to find those mats if you need more of them.

I ended up using all the ammo for my afmu, and a synthesized reload on my way out. Kinda fell into "highway hypnosis" and wrecked up some stuff. That's why I picked up the second afmu at Jacques on the way back.

Have some rep, that must've required quite a bit of patience, more than I would ever have. How long did it take?

I took 2 with me. Wish they fixed hull. I'm 6k ly into my trip to Annihilator and then Colonia, had some run ins with the dark side of planets and my hull is at 90%. That makes me...uhh....my passengers, nervous.

Gotta keep those passengers happy!

The sad ending to my 72kly trip was getting scanned and the passenger decided they didn't want my services any longer. I lost a 28m credit contract. But I had fun doing it; and enjoyed the experience.

I was making around 25ly a jump. I think I was out for five or six weeks.

I'm giving some thought to stopping in at Jacques for repairs, I'll just have to ninja my way in and out

Nice. My trip to Sag A was on a passenger mission with a destination 10k ly beyong the core so it was a pit stop. Asp was doing 43ly i think. I did it in one week, but I was seeing how fast I could make out, no exploring for me (on that trip)

He he i understand now and must say i try to stay away from "highway hypnosis" to avoid hull damages... but this sound fun indeed !

About avoiding... errrrrrr this morning it was hangover time for me... i made nightmares... was trap in R-Type style game in front of a boss... very weird... this morning it's so cold in my ship... maybe something is wrong must check my heat modules... before i took a warm coffee and checked Galnet... hell it wasn't a dream... damn it's getting so cold outhere... i'm 23k Ly from the bubble and 10k Ly from Colonia... dunno where to go now... I'm going to land in a small isolated moon and check that heat modules first... i will decide on my navigation later... i'm frozen.
