Newcomer / Intro Can I have more than one ship?

I want to buy a new sidewinder to practice some stuff with. I have a cobra now. Can I, at a shipyard, buy a new ship and store my current one? If so, do I always have to go to back the station I stored it in to pick up the "old" one again, or do stored ships "travel" with you from yard to yard?

I looked at the manual but I may have missed this stuff.

Thanks!

Yep, you can own as many ships as you can afford.
(Don’t fly without the funds to rebuy!)

Your ships can be summoned when you get to a new station with a shipyard, otherwise they stay put.

Hope this helps.

Just to add, when you move a ship from a to b you have to pay, the amount will increase with ship type and distance, as will the time it takes to get there. you can also move modules in the same way. I tend to have a long range aspx for getting over there then move the ship-s i wanted to where I was going.

One other limitation: You can (only) store up to 35 ships at any single location. o7

And I think the total number of ships you can own is also limited. (Was is around 250, I think?)

Whilst I don’t doubt for a moment you’re both factually correct, I do hope that you both have your tongues firmly in your cheeks:p

Thirty five in one location, two hundred and fifty in total.... I need to grind more;)

So, if one had the maximum number of Beluga Liners (are they the most costliest ship?) you'd have N = R*.fp.ne.fl.fi.fc.L of them. This, of my maths are correct, equates to 3.1415926535 x 10^18 credits. Can someone check that please?

Almost, you forgot to add the Fibonacci sequence to your Drake equation. Have some more pie.

Naturally, a "normal" person would never need such limit. :)
Personally I have about 20 ships. I don't really like some of those on the market (like Anaconda and most of the Fed ships except for the Gunship - she's a sweetheart), but others, I have multiple for different roles. For example I have one T9 for pure trading and one for mining. I also have several Couriers dotted around the bubble, two T6s, one for exploration, one for missions, several Cobras Mk.IV and Keelbacks of various purposes and one Cutter. Plus many I can't remember, now. I'm happy like that. I don't need any more so I focus on things that aren't about money, now.

But believe it or not, there are those who do feel the limitations of this system. :D

It's a bit late and... maybe a can or two too many. I'm not flying tonight so the station authorities can't touch me - even if I mix my Vulcan and Klingon.

Nope, Cutter is more than twice the price of a Beluga!

Besides your fleet of ships you can have up to 120 modules stored in any Outfitters like ships modules can be summoned to your location with a delay based on distance and a price based on distance and value.

Caution summoning 8A modules to Colonia can seriously damage your wealth.
