Can piracy be financially rewarding?

Sounds interesting but doesn't work with the all modes are equal approach.

To be fair, although all the modes are almost equal, they are not actually equal and never have been.

You can exchange cargo in Open [get money for free, from generous players who have too many billions], and you can be in real danger even if you have taken no action to put you in danger, from any player who wants to take a pot shot at you [which is not true in Solo].

Yes, but even wing missions will be available to Solo players. I don't think they will introduce open only missions.

Yes piracy can be, you can certainly raise more than it costs undertaking the activity.

Therefore it is financially rewarding.

I agree. But...
People always argue that you could make more money by transporting passengers rather than piracy. Therefore PvP piracy is broken. Note that this isn't my opinion.

Well sure. But at some point FD will have to use lemons to make lemonade.

Because without PvP profession support helping willing players to meet, PvP will stay confined in the realm of ganking.

Now, what FDev could do is create the same missions for solo player but using open players ships and mods as template for NPC's.
Make those missions wing missions with a scale up in threat, and you would have a winner that is forum-politics neutral.

It's not that hard to come up with something workable once one is not mired in ideology.

Or PvP players finally accept that the reward for piracy is having fun with PvP.
