TBH I sometimes wish I could have two saves as I'm loathed to give up my billions but at the same time would be interesting to do a clean start, particularly on foot.
Yes. If there's one incontrovertibly great thing about Odyssey, it's starting on foot. I had a great fun with it. There's a surprisingly large number of activities you can do without a ship. I'd even say it's better BECAUSE you don't have your own ship and a lot of money. For the same reason mucking about in a Freewinder is fun.
When I first "restarted" my game after about a year of playing (way back then) I was also terrified by loosing a lot of money and all my progress. But I did it anyway and since then I'm doing it periodically.
Because one thing you're going to find out about the game once you took the hit and cleared the save is that it's not having billions and access to everything that's entertaining. It's
getting the billions and access to everything. After you have it, well.. you can look at it I guess.
I really can't recommend this periodical play style enough. It's not like you're really building an empire you can't afford to lose like in X4.
