Can the DS4 (PlayStation 4 controller) be used on PC? Anyone playing Elite with one?

I keep looking at the guys on PlayStation using this thing and I REALLY want one for my PC! :)

Does the Touchpad (+Buttons) work? I tried it last year and it didn't. Partially also because a Win10 update broke the unofficial DS4 drivers back then.

Yes you can.

Sony sell an official adapter: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-PlayS...eywords=sony+dualshock+4+usb+wireless+adaptor

You also have free options of DS4Windows and Steam. These connect through USB or any generic Bluetooth connector.

I can't speak for the Sony adaptor or DS4Windows. I have used the Steam configuration: it offers tremendous customisation and configurability but does require you to launch ED through Steam.

Personally I prefer to use the Steam Controller for the grip buttons and superior gyro performance.

I don't even have a PS4, but I use the controller for Elite.

With Windows 10 it will work out of the box with just minor messing around in the game controller section of Windows control panel - with the exception of the touchpad.

To get that working I had to use DS4.

It was worth doing as I now use the touchpad for headlock.

Be warned though that if you switch between Windows driver and DS4 you will have to remap your keys.

I love it, wouldn't use anything else now.

I played with a 360 controller for a long time, it worked great, it took a lot of configuring in settings to get it exactly the way I wanted it though.

XB1 Elite FTW

:D

How long have you had it? I like the idea of it but a fair few people seem to report poor quality. Whether that is down to genuine poor quality or people not knowing how to look after hardware, I don't know.

I'm using a PS4 controller, running inputmapper (link is in a post above somewhere). It works well enough, but I'd suggest getting a headtracker/VR* and rudder pedals as well. It made a huuuuge difference for me.

*Headtracker is better for me because I still need to see my keyboard. YMMV
