Can we build anywhere on the islands?

Are there only designated building areas or can we build around waterfalls and on mountaintops as well? I noticed a waterfall in the mountains in the game play video which would make a super nice paddock or a place to center visitor buildings.

Nope they've bizarrely limited us to a section.

Ridiculous decision that does nothing except limits what you can do and will bunch your park up into one section.

The game takes place over 5 islands, maybe even 6 depending on what you can do on Nublar. They aren't going to give you an actual island sized space to build on for any island, because 1: They have gone for a realistic scale, so having a legitimately island sized area would be ridiculous and 2: You will have to spread out your dinosaurs and park attractions onto different islands. If you've seen any screenshots of the game from later islands, the parks are not cramped at all. They look much broader than in JP:OG, for example.

Matanceros' area is fine for 4-5 dinosaurs, which is all you will have due to it being the starter park. Also, IIRC, a recent article confirmed there are actually two buildable areas on Matanceros, one of which we didn't see. And that's just the space on the tutuorial island. Stop needlessly complaining.

Where in my opening post did I needlessly complain? I simply asked a question concerning something I didn't know about. Aside from that, I'm surprised that a player (you) wouldn't want to have total freedom designing your park. If Fdev wanted to go for a 'realistic scale' then how is not being able to utilize every square foot of an entire island realistic? It leads me to wonder if everyone will end up with similar looking parks. I'd very much welcome a completely free and open sandbox mode.

Was talking to Baryonyx, not you, my bad I misclicked.

But anyway, I personally think that across the five islands, you will find you have plenty of room to build parks, and make them diverse looking. Sorna alone has been confirmed to be larger than the entire Planet Coaster map size.

No. The developers said they looked at the few maps they could find and whatever Universal provided and decided on what areas were best to build a park on. So that is why we are limited to one single play area and not a whole island.

JPOG's islands, even the biggest ones weren't that big either.

The different islands are in different time zones, or heavily rumoured to be so.

Where's the article about two sites on Matanceros? I'd like to give that a read. If there's two then that's good because the one we saw was small. I know it's a tutorial island but, that doesn't excuse the small playable size. You should still have the freedom to create a large park and large enclosures.

Looking at gameplay videos there's maybe enough room for another three enclosures... and that's with grouping it all together.

I'm surprised people are defending the choice to limit islands. It really is going to stop people from creating great parks. Look at the map of Jurassic World, it's spread out across the whole island (except the north which is restricted area for research) which is what I wanted to do. Spread it across the island with huge enclosures, not bunch everything up into a square in the middle.

It's a bad decision. If I wanted to try and build on a mountain, I should be able too. If I wanted to say plonk my hotel on top of a mountain so it had a huge view over the entire park, or build a path snaking around a mountain with a valley below filled with dinosaurs.

Because huge bits of the map are blocked off it limits what we can do.

On Isla Matenceros, you don’t have the whole island which sucked. I was a bit annoyed about this, but it is what it is I guess.

I have to say i'm not really worried about limited building. I defenitely don't want all the dinosaurs on every island. There's that island which is divided in two or something so that'd be for me a carnivore side and a herbivore one.

Looks like a single island is made up of separate "areas". You can't access the entire island to build a park.

Isla Muerta offers a greater challenge than the starting island. While it can enjoy pleasant sunsets it is often ravaged by storms. Some areas can only be accessed via Monorail links.

Frontier said the devs looked at the maps and found only certain areas that were viable for building a park. This means places with the most open flat or semi flat ground. I doubt what we have seen a whole island but more like just one area of the island that gets generated.

The way that the starting Island is set up t looks a lot like there is different parts of the island that you can go to.

Poor decision by Frontier. Should be able to build around or on mountain slopes to add variety to the park.

A mountainous enclosure would be great.

I think we need to ask ourselves how practical would having access to the entire islands would be for a theme park, especially one that is entirely animal exhibits. Not very, I would wager. They didn't utilize the entire island for the park in Jurassic World, and I find it a bit extreme to want to use the entire islands in Evolution, at least for the big ones like Sorna and Nublar.

We also need to keep in mind the possibility of a sandbox mode as its highly suggested to be a part of the game. Assuming its on Isla Nublar or a land mass separate from the Five Deaths, we should take into consideration what it will entail in terms of the area we may get to build our parks on, assuming there is indeed one.

Jurassic World is spread across the whole island except the north which is research.

It's not all bungled up in one box. It's spread around with huge enclosures.
