Can we get analogue controls for FSS tuning?

I'm trying to set up my HOTAS X56 for ED3.3

I've found some helpful suggestions and ideas.

I've been trying to use the tuning mechanic.

I've got it bound to the twist on my joystick.

But it seems to be either on or off. There's no analogue aspect to it.

I can turn the sensitivity down, but then it takes a stupidly long time to crawl along the tuning bar.

Is this a bug? Something I'm missing?

I also tried binding it to other sticks on the HOTAS that have analogue inputs, but the same thing happened.

Without analogue sensitivity, its either too fast to stop where you need to, or so slow that it makes a mockery of the claim that this is a quick process.

I also tried binding to the "radio tuning" controls on the throttle section, but that binding doesn't seem to work because the tuning controls seem to only have one binding command no matter which way you turn them. And the tuning section requires two separate binding commands for left and right.

I use my Main hat on my X52 pro. So it shows I can have controls on top of controls.

Yes, a million analogue axes. I've tried 3 of them. None of them gave an analogue response on the tuning bar. It just starts moving when I push the axis to the far extreme. And not before.

When I bind an axis, I have to use the two different inputs that say left and right. And set the axis for left and right.

The one I tried first is the twist on the joystick, that is definately analogue since it works analogue for roll when flying.

Sounds like it should then....

I was able to set the mini-stick on my CHPro Throttle to the FSS tuning, but the control is reversed. Usually in Elite, there is an option to Reverse the axis, but there is no such option for the FSS Tuning. And for whatever reason, the axis is only detected when I pull the mini-stick X axis towards me. Elite does not detect the axis on that specific FSS Tuning control when I push the mini-stick towards the screen. A reversed option would be nice for this.

That mini-stick has no issues with the lateral thrusters controls. Weird.

It works fine as analog when bound to the little throttle slider on my Thrustmaster T16000. It works just like a radio tuner, just like you'd expect. But in the end I wound up just binding to keys on my keyboard. I find it easier to tap/hold keys than fiddle with a slider, personally.

That is your issue - you are assigning to a digital condition. You need to use the axis assignment listed there above the Tuning Left and Tuning Right items (they are for button / key presses).

Yes I too think it does need a reversed / normal option.

Ahhh! Thank you! I just hadnt twigged that the space next to Tuning was a binding slot. I guess I really should have, since most of the others are as well.

So once I set the Tuning binding to my YAW on my joy stick, it worked great.

And then I discovered what Absolute tuning is...

If you have a on your HOTAS (like the X56) that is a rotary , then that can be set to be absolute tuning. So the tuning position depends on the rotational position of the .

So FINALLY I have a use for one of the rotary knobs on my HOTAS.

And that seems to work great as well...
