Can we get the terraform info in the FSS and the Nav Panel?

As an explorer I would really like to see if the body i'm scanning or travelling to is terraformable or not. It would be really nice if we didn't only see that info on the System Map, but maybe on the Nav Panel and in the FSS too.

as seen on the System Map:

it could be added to here, for example:

and maybe in the Nav Panel list Terraformable bodies could have a slightly different icon, or add some sign next to the icon:

and in the FSS too:

What does that add to the game? Is there anything special you can do with a terraformed planet?
Terraformable planets pay much higher exploration credits than non-terrformables.

I would take the time to fly to a terraformable water world to map it, but would not necessarily do so for a non-terraformable.

Good idea OP!

So you don't scan non-terraformables? Hmm, didn't realise people were optimising their exploration so hard 🤔

What is your point?

I do scan non-terraformables

EDIT: to clarify i scan everything in FSS, but i only go and map terraformables, any kind of water worlds, any kind of Ammonia Worlds and Earth-Like Worlds and occasionally bodies with GEO/BIO signals. Currently i use EDDiscovery, it tells me all information i need, but i have to alt-tab to see what bodies i want to map and it's not optimal.

I was wondering what people would do differently based on the terraforming info - and your answer is ... nothing. So yeah, why not display it, but it's not like I'm missing out on any gameplay - that's all.

It’s not hard. 😉

basically, depending on how much free time I have and where I was travelling, I wouldn’t necessarily travel more than 20kls (approx.) to scan a non-terraformable, whereas I probably would if it was terraformable.

i'm so hardcore, i wrote a script for EDDiscovery that tells me every time a scan a planet that's within my desired parameters (listed above). ¯\-(ツ)-/¯

1 hotkey and a scrolling...too much work? No from me for this idea, specially after the last update.
if it would be shown, you win nothing. You can't select planets in the fss, so you need to go to the nav panel, to select it or go to the star map. Both ways take the same time.

Esc > Options > Controls > Full Spectrum System Scanner > Target Current Signal (to select planets in the FSS) . you are welcome o7

Yes. Repeat hundreds of times (once for each new system you visit) and for every planet within that system, and you have a lot of wasted time and effort.

Why not show it in the FSS along with all the other planetary details?

Yes you can. And I would if I saw at least 1 terraformable planet in the FSS.

Personally, I’ll map any non-gas giant body that has some form of life on it. Depending on how much time I have to play, I’ll also do a brief survey of MR and metallic rings in systems with ELWs. I do occasionally map life-bearing gas giants if I hit a particularly dry spell, and of course any planet I’m planning on landing on.

I just want to spend much of my time exploring in the cockpit, and as little as possible in the system map. If I’m doing a high-speed flyby of a world on my way to something that had caught my eye in a system, I want to assess it without completely losing situational awareness and control of my ship.

Yup, T'Kael did the same for EDDI and I can confirm it's very useful, especially when in VR. I see that " reportTerraformables" is the first item in the preferences block
Another way is to have your EDSM Dashboard open on another monitor or a tablet. That gives you a real-time update of which bodies are worth mapping.

Forgot to mention i wrote my script for the EDD Voice Pack addon. So it actually just talks when i scan a planet that interests me.
Basically same principle, it checks for value to be more than 80,000 credits and checks if i have mapped it before or not. Simple stuff but it helps a lot. I still need to see the list though, cause i can't memorize in each systems every single body's name. It's why this feature would be useful, cause Earth-Likes, Water Worlds and Ammonia Worlds are rare enough for me to memorize, but some systems have 5-6 terraformables spread out.

That's not an idea that should bring any special opposition, because why not have some more info where possible?
In FSS it could be placed it in the centre, below "object type", or even be some kind of small icon somewhere, to avoid more lines of text.

I wouldn't hold my breath, though. Plenty of seemingly simple, reasonable suggestions have never been included (or even noticed, probably)

Agreed, it's a suggestion thread but it won't hurt anyone (or so i thought XD) to suggest even if it never gets noticed or even implemented.

I found out how irritating it is that Terraformable info is missing from FSS recently. Decided recently to embark on my first Exploration expedition to switch things up and, early on in my trip, was notified of a Terraformable discovery being confirmed in the Codex when I scanned a planet in FSS. Neat. I continue on, thinking the FSS will tell me, or show, when a planet is Terraformable. Roughly 400 jumps later, I have yet to see one . . . I look it up and find out I must go to the System Map . . . :cautious:

How this was not included in the FSS truly boggles my mind. For those saying checking the System Map is easy, why should anyone have to do this repetitively hundreds/thousands of times when the FSS clearly detects Terraformables, while also giving you heaps of info on Bodies that has exactly zero gameplay impact?

I would give OP 5 Likes if I could. I have been overall surprised to find FSS not at all as unpleasant as many made it out to be, but seeing how Terraformables does in fact make the bulk of Exploration money, this is an incredible fail.

So you don't scan non-terraformables? Hmm, didn't realise people were optimising their exploration so hard 🤔

Average Value of First Discovery & Mapping of ...
Rocky Body - 4260 cr
Terraformable Rocky Body - 1557130 cr

I wouldn't call multipling your income by ~365x "optimising exploration so hard"

Exploration Values for those interested.
