CQC Can we just turn CQC off now?

CQC needs its lobby moved in-game, and it needs AI opponents. For me, CQC is fun in short bursts. But it's too often empty, so I return to it rarely.

We have a Discord channel that you can use to check whether there's a game going on. That can save you some unnecessary waiting time. :) Link in my signature.

By this logic, please get rid of engineers, exploration , powerplay and trading, because I don't like them and they irritate me.

Dudes I've been playing every frcking evening for more than a year, so can't really see your points.

Never understood the hate around cqc, I'm playing it sometimes and it's always lots of fun, and never had any problems finding a party, specially with the discord channel...

Cqc is the real pure pvp part of elite iMO.
Some words I found in a cqc guide it sum it up better than I could with my poor english :

"All in all, CQC is a welcome breath of fresh air after being subjected to the shield meta and the way PVP works in Open Play. There’s no running away, there’s no overpowered ship builds or constant shield cell banking, there’s just a bunch of pilots in similarly-equipped ships going head-to-head to find out who’s the best. It’s not going to be for everyone, but for someone who has been a long-time combat flight sim enthusiast, this is the game mode you’ve been waiting a long time for.

Hopefully this quick little primer will help you get a bit better at it. :)"

indeed the issue with CQC is like a lot of the additions to the game. it is just lacking in content - esp for those with an eye on quad elite.

what there is is very very good but with no additions since launch it is just a bit limited. I am glad it is in there however and will always go back to it for a bit of a pvp fix.

i expected horizons to come with some new surface CQC maps for instance - perhaps one using a smashed up surface city as an arena space

Cqc is all about being mobile and being able to use structure to hide and sneak, so I don't even know if planetary map would be that great.

But just as Obsidian ant noted in many of his recent videos, there are things that could be made with low effort to give players more information about what's going on in the galaxy.
I'm sure there would be more players if Arena stats were present in open play in the form of a leaderboard or galnet reports, right now it feels like the module is on a paralel universe. CQC should be advertised in the game like it was a popular sport...

Let people know that people are playing it, and some are really really good at it...

I just bought this game a few days ago. Please don't remove this game mode for essentially no reason, if it's not working just fix it so it does, I wanna try it and play it. I don't know what should be done to fix it - integrating it with the main game with queueing and leaderboards/high salaries seems good - but I'd much prefer features be expanded on rather than removed.

I like CQC, though I prefer playing the main game 99% of the time. But I did enjoy the few games I've played there.

I think the CQC rank shouldn't stay in the main game, at least until some sort of CQC is part of the main game.

Also, as some have already suggested, maybe CQC should become a free to play.

No need to kill it, just give it the support it needs to succeed.

Yeah, please do not kill it right now : I'd like to get my CQC elite title first :D
I must say, it is a pretty hard one to grind for a non pewpew player like me. I've been at it for quite a long time now and still need more time .... A few months more please FD !

Like someone said. I hate things like engineers, exploration, mining, some ships like (T6, T7, T9, T10), bgs, powerplay.. we should switch that off because I don't like them.

And those silly Exploration and Trade ranks should be removed from our right hand panel too. I don't like them.

It might not be CQC itself. It might be anger about the time and resources spent on it that might have gone to improving the main game.

That time has been lost, forever. CQC is persona non grata, for that.

Fine, but removing it will waste even more time. Some actually like CQC, so double waste.

It is vanity! Some want to have ELITE written at all possibilites and CQC is a thorn in their behinds.

No don't kill it off merge it into the main game as a arena in one or multiple system's each system can have its own league etc. Bots could be in the league as well.

We could have the Fed, Imp, Alliance, Colonia and independent leagues all they would need is the arenas and the league coding.

I agree with most of the comments here in support of CQC and wanting more features.

For some that mentioned about the icon, it's exactly the same for combat, trade, exploration and CQC. If someone doesn't like it, that's fair enough but they won't earn the rank, it's all our choices to make ;).

Personally, I thought the same thing when we first got CQC so decided to rank up. It's as simple as that o7. I used to play a lot at the start and got to champion, then dwindled off in comparison but still rarely play, and have reached hero 6%. I've played CQC for just under a week in game time and can say it's a lot of fun.

So Frontier ask - what's the problem?
Like anything though, there needs to be variety. Having a few maps and ships really isn't enough to keep players long term. For the meaning of CQC, Frontier could take the word 'Championship' and make it actually into that:

Have league tables to make it competitive,
A main game CQC queue option in the panels,
CQC with chat and lobbies,
Canyon racing and point to point racing as a new game mode,
higher payouts,
more space maps (from the countless CQC structures already in the main game),
surface maps (around settlements / structures / scenic landscapes),
new ships (taipan at least)

They would draw back the players who've lost motivation, draw in the new players or people who haven't tried it and keep people interested once they're there!

Then have a dedicated Dev team for continuous improvement and Frontier can achieve the ambition they had of developing an eSport.

There's s a lot of potential for the second-to-none space fighter arena. If you haven't already, try CQC in VR [hotas]

As in Roman times. The Arena.

Why was it there? What was the politics and the drama behind it? What was its function and what happened to the people in, around and within it.

Now, if CQC could be something as powerful and real as that...
