Can you fly between systems without hyperspace jump?

After my running out of fuel fiasco, I wondered if it is actually possible to fly between systems using SC. You can align with another system and travelling at about 1000C it said 1.2 days. So if I left it running would it get there? If not then it should :p

Theoretically, you should be able to point your ship at the target, turn on the engines and go, when your fuel runs out you should still be going at the same speed, forever...

However, in the game, you'd be slowed gradually by "space dust" and your hull would degrade to 0% by the same method.

No, because you need to enter/leave the system via the Jump process to trigger the instance change.

Oh. Is that really how they designed the game? Space dust, that's interesting.. Ah well doesn't really matter cos no one would travel like that.

Has anyone tried it? 1,000,000Ls is around 0.03Ly(?), so the closest two systems might take around 10 hours of SuperCruise(?) depending on how fast that baby really can go!

No you can't.
I've seen the video on YouTube where a guy tried to fly in SC 0,5 LY to the nearest star system. The marker shows somewhere to space, you may reach it, but there would be no other star system.

Here it is.
Sorry. It's in russian, but everything is clear by the picture.

In the original game, planet space was spherical if you went in any one direction for too long you simply arrived at the other side of the sphere.
My guess is that due to the way directX works it happens the same, but just takes longer.

I'm also guessing like the other person that tripping hyper-jump triggers the routine to create the new system from the seed values.

Also... Thargoids.

You can get a cream for that!

- No it dont work
- Yes many have tried since beta.
- Think it is intendet, to keep players out of locked space

Othervise the system permit wouldn't mean a thing.... And there are a lot of restricted systems in the space.
