Hardware & Technical Can you guys recommend any rudder pedals?

I use Slaws BF 109 pedals and am very happy with them. The downside is you have to Email a guy and transfer cash to a bank account before you receive them, but the guy behind it is a very kind and trustworthy person imho - never came accross a single complaint.

The MFGs might even be slightly better, but I prefered Slaws because I predominatly fly FW 190s and BF 109s in WW2 flightsims and they're a replica of the Einheitspedal used in both planes.

CH Pro pedals here too - well over 15 years of flight sim use and as reliable as a very reliable thing.

BTW - I use them all the time in flight sims but it feels weird to use them in Elite - so I use a Yaw to Roll (press to hold) bind on my CH Pro Fighterstick.

+1 CH Pro pedals. Love mine. They were a little tough to get used to. My hand eye coordination is great, but my feet were slower to learn.

I have the MFG Crosswinds, expensive but - along with the Slaws - among the best out there. Very solid construction, adjustable in several ways (pedal angle, toe-in/toe-out, resistance strength and resistance 'curve' via changing to the provided cam). A minor quibble, but it has a narrow base at the 'front' meaning when you put your first foot onto it it starts to tip over if you don't have it secured down, so I've gotten into the habit of putting both feet on at the same time! :)

Never played a sim with pedals before, really enjoy the extra thumb & hat-switch it frees up; plus it adds a lot to one's accuracy with Fixed weapons.

Seconded. I have the Crosswinds as well. The very best and most precise peripheral I own. I also have CH pedals which feel clunky and crude by comparison. The CH pedals are cheaper though, and feel sturdy enough. Nothing like the Crosswinds though, which are several levels above and beyond.

I moved to a Warthog a couple of months ago (after being an x52 pro user since I started Elite Dangerous)..not having Yaw was an absolute nightmare! However the Thrustmaster TFRP have been excellent.. I used the pedals on my first true exploration trip. By the time I arrived at Beagle Point...the muscle memory was starting to appear and things began to click. Warthog and pedals all work seamlessly and I was a dyed in the wool X52 pro man. In short...TFRP...go get em while stocks last! I haven't tried others, but for the price...imo....spot on!

Another happy CH pedals user here. Their only significant shortcoming is how close together they are, but as long as you're careful to *ahem* position yourself correctly it doesn't get uncomfortable.

Some of the high-end pedals made by small manufacturers look amazing though, and I have no doubt they're worth the cost. If there's one thing I know about flightsim peripherals, it's that you're never going to get the best of the best without wiring money to a guy somewhere in Eastern Europe who you met on a forum :D

I use a nice twisty stick - the Logitech 3d Pro Extreme.
I looked at the Warthog, and while I do like the look of it, the price seems a bit excessive, metal or not.
I use a CH Pro Throttle and a G13 game pad along with my stick.
I've thought about adding some pedals, but honestly.. I dunno what I'd use them for. I might consider a set of racing pedals though as a throttle and handbrake for SRV operations though - really give it the whole driving feel.

I used to have a set of CH Pedals and they work just fine and will definitely last you a while. My only real complaint with them is common to all rudder pedals that work the way they do and it's just that the way they're operated kinda sucked for me because I have long legs and am a desk bound simmer so ergonomically I was just always uncomfortable using them. I'd have to sit way back for my legs to be comfortable but then I'm sitting way back from my screens and I didn't have a mounting system for my HOTAS so now I was kinda reaching to get to those. If I sat up close then my knees would end up hitting the underside of my desk.

With that in mind I recently purchased the VKB T-Rudder ( https://www.amazon.com/T-Rudder-Mk-IV-Flight-Simulator-Pedals-Linux/dp/B01G6GT4A8 ) and I absolutely adore them. As long as the loss of the toe brakes is not a big deal for you then I'd highly recommend these. They're absolutely bomb proof and since you operate them with a vertical motion instead of a horizontal one you don't have to worry about them sliding around. Furthermore, the way they're operated makes them just so much more comfortable to use at a desk (for me at least). One of these days I'll get myself an Obutto cockpit and a set of Slaws but until then I foresee myself getting a ton of mileage out of these.

I have a set of each of the VKB T-Rudder MKIII, and the Baur BRD F3

The BRD F3's are awesome, they are in the same league as Crosswinds/Slaw. VKB's are also a great product, especially for the price. They suit "office chair" set ups very well, but no toe brake - this is not an issue for ED.

I absolutely use my toe brakes, so it would be an issue for me in E:D.

The left toe brake is boost, the right one reverses throttle.

In which case, Baur F3, Slaw or Crosswinds. Spend the money knowing that in 10 years, it's still be awesome, and you'll have forgotten the dollar value long ago.

Can heartily recommend Slaw - got a Bf109 set (I like my feet on the pedals and not on the floor) with cam.
Built like a tank.

Well, I just put my Thrustmaster pedals on Ebay... :(

They just don't work well with feet the size/width of mine. So I'm going with the VKB, even though they don't have true toe brakes. I'll just make do with the virtual ones when I'm flying my vintage aircraft. :)

VKB are great, but if you do vintage sims, the crosswinds were modeled after one of the Messerschmitt planes (I forget which one)

I read that somewhere, thanks.

I have flown a schmitt, but prefer my P-51, Spit, and Corsair. Probably in that order. :D

Oh, I totally agree, just not sure there are any pedals out there that are modeled on any wwii plane, though I could be wrong.

My order of preference would likely be lightening, jug, and .. a p61 black widow-- I like 'em fat and heavily armed :) though the '51 and spit would be high on my list!
