Can you see other ships in supercruise? Yes, you can.

We have decided to answer extremely important question, that's been on everybodys mind once and for all:

There is another though, can ships in supercruise bump into eachother?
We will be trying to find out as well, it'll be much trickier though, so I though I'll ask the community to test it as well.
If you and your buddies would like to take a shot at it - post your findings here please.
:)

[edit]
I'm not talking about the glowing points (duh) but about ship models

Was this a question? I've seen videos on this before, and done it myself. However, can you hit someone else? Good luck - that's not something I've tried (and it's REALLY hard to see the ship model!) and I doubt it's possible. Surely there's no need to have a "hit box" in SC? :)

We have decided this has already been answered...... Merry Chrimbo

I've been playing ED for a couple of years. I've never seen this before, and didn't think it was possible. Good work! 🤶

Edit:

@The rest of you: Did you try it yourselves, or was it just a rumor? I'd also heard that there actually were a free Conda at Hutton, but that you had to find the hidden planet out there to salvage the ship. That used to be just a rumor to me...

One of them specifically said they have done it themselves, so the answer to that question is yes.

Congratulations ! Good to see some experimenting and team effort; that worked out pretty well. I liked the surprise clip at the end too. (y)

Take no notice of the "oh we've been around so long, we've seen it all" crowd. They've forgotten their Christmas spirit already, or perhaps have had too much :D

Interesting finding, i did not know that.

Congratulations for the investigative and experimental initiative. Let me know if you need help testing something else.

That's pretty cool, how close are you to the galactic core to have a star field density like that, or is that a graphics option I've missed ?

Excellent video OP. a good learning experience.
It leads me to another topic: why other ships put out such a high intensity light with tails. Imho, its just not realistic at all (and I've tried removing it with a mod but was not successful). At those distances and speed another ship in SC should be tiny. The HUD can capture its location and scan data and display it at the ships location on the HUD (like several other space games do). But I've tried colliding with other ships in SC but have not been successful ... yet. Sorry, I don't mean to divert the topic.

In another recent topic here a person asked why there were no Comets in the game. Well there it is; a good technique to mimic a comet but it has to have a straight and steady vector only changing when close to stars or large planets (or some other force). Comets don't turn like a ships. Just my 2 pennies.

It might have been better if they'd modelled SC visuals on a sonic boom as a ship went superluminous but it is what it is.
