Can you tell the game to plot the longest jumps?

I'm on PS4, if it makes a difference. I have a dbx with a 39.something ly jump, but I have to manually select my next jump every time to make use of it.

Choosing Fastest Route in GalMap options (Navigation I believe) will generally try for the least number of jumps to your destination, and it will follow that that's close to your maximum range each time. The route finder actually finding a next system along the route exactly at your maximum though isn't terribly likely. It is more likely, however, the higher your range is.

It also tends to better match your max when you are in more densely populated regions of the galaxy (of stars, that is). I'm carrying a bit more load that I normally do on an expedition and my max is 62ly at the moment, and jumps are within a range of 59-62, with the average being somewhere closer to 61. I use neutron boosting, so my current average jump for this expedition is heavily skewed, but it is 99ly per jump over a little more than 15k ly.

About all you can do is make sure that you don't have any filters on, and the route planner will try to plot the quickest route on a straight line towards your destination. If it has to chose between a system that is 90% of your jump range and on a direct line to your destination and a system that is 100% of your range that is well above or below that line, it will likely go with the shorter jump.

"Fastest Route" plots a course with the least amount of jumps necessary. Individual jumps can be considerably below your maximum jumprange, because - obviously - there needs to be a star in your path. Manually chosing a star which is further away but more off-course will actually prolong your journey.

The route plotter will always jump based on maximum fuel load. The only way to Jump at max current range or max possible range is to manually jump.

Fastest Route will get you where you are going with the least number / longest jumps possible based on your ships jump range. Just make sure that's checked instead of Economic and you're golden, doesn't matter if PC or PS4 or anything.

My issue is that I wish instead of JET CONE BOOST factoring both Neutron Stars and White Dwarfs, that I could just tell it to do Neutrons only. Stopping to deal with the ridiculousness that is a White Dwarfs huge drop out radius and it's short jet cone ejection trail versus the long extending Neutron Jets makes White Dwarfs significantly harder to get a boost off of versus a Neutron jump, to the point that stopping for a White Dwarf jump boost is often inefficient. I'd rather be able to tell the jump computer / galmap to only divert for Neutron Boosts when route plotting.

I'll have to check over the options more thoroughly... hell, all the options. I don't even know where the menu is to find such an option lol.

Select the Galaxy map, then the "Stars" tab.
Now select the "map" option.
pull down menu to "star class"

Select the scoopable stars, then "non sequesnce" - make sure that "white dwarf" box is not selected.
Lastly, (right at the bottom - need to scroll down on my pc screen), "Apply filter to route.

That should avoid the white dwarf, but not the neutron stars....

Fly Casual!
