Cannot board ship after using shuttle - we need ability to store ships with cargo in!

So I decided I wanted a second cutter.

Flew to Arjung (in my long range fitted Krait Phantom) to buy it at -15%, left my old ship there
Flew my shiny new Cutter back to Ix.
Took a shuttle to Arjung to go and get my Krait back, cost about 70k and took two shuttles because of the silly 100ly limit.

Not allowed to board my Krait because my new Cutter has cargo in it. Cargo in question is most likely 3 limpets.

I'm now stuck in Arjung, on foot, unable to use my ship. Logged a ticket with Frontier support 5 days ago and haven't even had a reply.

If Odyssey is to give us the ability to move around space independently of our ships, it's time that Odyssey also gave us the ability to leave cargo in our ships when we store them. It always did feel odd that you couldn't do this. Have none of you people ever known someone who crammed a load of junk into their old car and left it parked on the street?

I really don't want to shuttle all the way back and spend 140k just to get rid of 3 bloody limpets, so I'll just play something else until this is fixed.

It’s all smoke and mirrors. You are not actually your person, you are always your ship. When you’re on foot you’re just an SRV with legs but you are still your ship.

When you try to switch a ship somewhere you are held to the same restrictions as you had in Horizons, cargo included. For all intents and purposes “you” are still the last ship you were flying.

Yeah, I learnt that the hard way. FDev did get rid of my limpets for me though.

Really need a decoupling of cmdr from ship, including ability to store ships with cargo in. With the addition of shuttles and resultant ability to end up far away from your ship this restriction is gonna get more and more obvious

this was brought up several times during Alpha (along with a suggestion of being able to rent cargo space at stations) apparently it was ignored like everything else that was said during Alpha... oh other than dumbing down plant sampling

If your guy is an "SRV with legs" then how is it that I can drive someone else's SRV? Agree that we should be able to store ships with cargo.

🤷‍♂️

I believe it's to stop exploiting the markets - like filling up multiple T9s with valuables then buggering off until said valuables are worth more.

The same way you could pilot someone else’s SLF in Horizons. You never stopped being your ship when you joined someone’s multi crew either.

You are forever the last ship you piloted and completely tethered to it until you switch to another ship.

To a degree I can see that, though SLFs aren't treated the same in Elite as SRVs due to not being tethered to the ship. However, it was odd that my ship dissmissed as soon as I disembarked the SRV in my son's ship. I mean, I understand what you're saying about 'being' your ship but aren't all games like that when control is handed over from on vehicle to another or to on foot? Like in Titanfall 2, once you get in a Titan, you basically are the Titan.

You mean this space capitalism simulator doesn't let you do things to the markets that you can actually do in real life?

If I get in your car with you on gta my car doesn't necessarily despawn, kind of like that?
