Cannot Eliminate Thargon Swarm Effectively Help

Long story short, I am using the PS4 and cannot for the life of me seem to hit more then one or two per flak shot if I'm lucky of the Thargon swarm in reverski. I have watched and followed the instructions on every Youtube video I could find i.e. aim and fire at the circle tracking the Thargons, then release the trigger when the triangle is full and beeps. But the best I can do is ONE or TWO Thargon per shot. Which effectively means thats the end of my pursuit of a Thargoid kill. I have tried a kamakai run at the swarm but the damage is too great. This is really frustrating making it so so hard to kill a 32 swarm off in 2-3 flak shots. So what am I doing wrong? Has anyone got any tips/suggestions on how to do this effectively?. Really appreciate the help.

If you are waiting for the triangle filling up and you hear the beep that is your problem. Since you have a reaction time, reacting to the beep/fill will lead to your release being late and your flak overshooting. This is one of the two main problems among new AX pilots when it comes to flaking (the other being aiming directly at the lead indicator, which will often lead to a miss since the swarm often changes direction).

This is timestamped for when I discuss this in my Cyclops Textbook tutorial:
Edit: See also the discussion starting around the 10:00 mark.

Thanks for the info. So are we saying that you aim between the tracking reticle and the swarm? At what point do you release the trigger, triangle partially full or complete? Ie before the beep?
Thanks👍

You are supposed to release when the beep occurs. The point is that if you wait to hear the beep occur and react to it your reaction time will mean that you do not actually release when the beep occurs but later. This is why you need to anticipate the beep and time your release to it. A good way to determine if you are late is to grab a recording of your flaking and review it later. A lot comes down to practice.

Where you aim depends on if the swarm just turned or not. A lot of it is building a feeling of how the swarm moves and anticipating it. As a rough rule of thumb, aim for the reticule if the swarm just turned.

Good advice. The point where I started feeling confident about taking down Swarms was during the last AX Incursion. AX Conflict Zones are a great opportunity to practice Thargon hunting (as well as other parts of the fight) without nearly as much pressure. Of course winging-up is the ideal.

Taking on a Cyclopes at the Bug Killer site is also a good training run (for the non-swarm portion of the fight), as the Thargons won't launch near the planet surface.

dont know if anybody is still looking at this... they way i was tackling these swarms... boost out... flip over STOP. result miss miss and miss. the moment i get the fa off HIT. the difficulty for me i think is my thrustmaster is quite worn so getting it steady is difficult. of course. if anybody can advise me on that, heck i'm listening?

If getting steady is difficult, what you might try is, rather than trying to hold on the reticule for long periods of time, sweep across it, anticipating when you will cross it, and fire at the correct time. You only have to be on target for a Split Second.

Good idea. What about leaving the joystick pitch and roll alone and using left right up down thrusters to steady it?
On a joystick it is very difficult.
I've been training and researching this issue for years, they tend to just use a keyboard and mouse with the autocentering option.

I also use a controller; I use two Flaks, one on top of the ship, one underneath, to get a decent hit on the swarm.
