Cannot select Start Button from Main Menu

Hi Everyone.

I have what could be a unique problem and it is occurring every time I start the game since the update. After booting the game up on my ps4 I log in as normal but my start button is greyed out. Friends are showing, i can access everything else on the menu including training missions and videos but I am unable to start my game because the button remains greyed out. Clicking on it provides the message not connected to the internet. This all started since the update we had a couple of days ago before then this was never a problem. I have tested other games such as ESO, BF1 and even Destiny without any problems but i cannot play ED due to the start button being unavailable to me.

Any help would be appreciated as this Commander is having massive withdrawal.

If that start button isn't available that only means one thing: No connection to the server.

I'd recommend starting with network troubleshooting and going from there. So completely exit the game, goto your PS4 connection settings and reconnect to your Wi-Fi or whatever. Even if it says it's fine, just reconnect. Then try to open the game fresh and see if start is available.

If not, I'm not sure what to tell you. I fail to see how it could be a software issue from the patch because it's not effecting anyone else.

Done all that and this ps4 is hard wired. As already stated other online games work perfectly no issues. I only mentioned the update as it is since then this issue has started occurring before that never a problem. Strange...

I would retry resetting your router, then your ps4 and re run the connection test and see if that resolves it for you. Failing that contact customer services for advice. Has to be something your end or there would be an outage listed. Perhaps even reinstalling the game might be worth a shot once youve reset the router. Fingers crossed.

Try doing an internet connection test in the PS4 menu, I heard that might fix some issues, I think there was a patch that might have messed things up recently.

If you have confirmed your connection to PSN is working, then this must be a software issue. Personally, I would delete the application (but not your save data) and re-install.

Connection to PSN perfect as are my other online games.

Thanks SpaceMachine, I was going to do this as a last resort and well It is my last resort now.

Same for me. I can't connect to the servers now after updating. My internet connection is fine, I've confirmed my network/internet connection is okay in ps settings and I can access the PlayStation store but the "Start" button is now permanently greyed out. Elite was working fine this afternoon before I did the update!!!!

I've noticed issues with start button as well, but not so bad as you have. But still it takes a lot longer to hand shake with FD servers after last update. Sometime even 10min or so and before had no such problems. Weird! :rolleyes:

I'm now connected but I had to completely switch my ps4 off and unplug it. I left it unplugged for a couple of minutes and then switched it back on. I then redid my network connection in ps settings and tried elite dangerous again. I could then connect! Hopefully this is sorted now.
