After finding that my other machine had the exact same issue I looked further into the possible AV issue - it seems that the ransomware protection part of my AV wasn't allowing EliteDangerous64.exe to modify files, so I added an exeption in the rules and tested it out - and woop it worked!

So it seems that there might well be an issue where various AV programs don't know or trust the ED executable.

The path for the EDO executable is (for steam anyway) DRIVE LETTER/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/Elite Dangerous/Products/elite-dangerous-odyssey-64 then look for EliteDangerous64.exe

Thank you very much Nickweb- hadn't had F10 screenshots since the first patch was released.. bleeding Devs wrecking everything with patches.... and yesterday saw your post - deactivated ransomware protection on my AVG and I'm back getting screenies again :D

Anyone else using HCS Voicepaks and having problems with pictures? I am use HCS Voicepaks to request taking pictures. It worked fine up until the new Gravity update. I just checked and for the past 6 weeks I thought it was taking pics and it hasn't saved one. I tried just using F10 as suggested here and it worked just fine. Out in deep space and I have missed a lot. Glad I found this thread and figured it out though before my trip back to the bubble was over.

That a low resolution solution compared to the normal screenshot and especially the hi-res screenshots from Elite :)

Depends on your purpose for the screenshot!

I'm not likely to be standing in front of things long enough to want to take a high-res bitmap and faff about converting it.

OKAY... TWO POINTS AFFECTING SCREENSHOTS!
#1, Your AV Ransomware can stop the save. I have Avast Premium (about to let it lapse) that even though I put in an exception, still blocks the shots. I even tried making an exception for the screenshot folder. No Go... But the instant I turned off Ransomware Protection the screenshot appeared... but only the last one. That affects BOTH F10 and ALT-F10 shots.
#2, For Nvidia users... the Geforce Experience IF you've installed it) has a Default keybind to ALT-F10 for something. (I forget). You MUST change the keybinds for G.E. or it will keep you from making High Rez shots too. Just go into Geforce Experience and change the keybinds.. OR, Just delete the Geforce Experience. I find that the G.E. software NEVER gets the Auto-Graphics "Enhancement" right, for anything! Why even have it?
So.. ANTIVIRUS and GEFORCE EXPERIENCE can BOTH prevent screenshots.
Good Luck... took some deep diving several months ago to get this one down.

Alt+F10 used to work for me. Now it doesn't. Not even regular F10. I have the file added as OP mentioned to my ransomware, the Adrenalin software for my AMD GPU doesn't have any keybinding as far as i know which overlap with the Alt+F10, so im not sure. As mentioned it used to work for me, was bummed out when trying to take a stellarscreenshot worthy pic today that it doesn't work anymore:(
