Are you on steam?

If yes:

SOLUTION FOR STEAM USERS:
Start Launcher from Steam
Launcher Options-> ED Cache disabled!
Launcher Options -> Validate Game Files
Launch Oddyssey and play

I validated files before, but didn't switch off Ed cache. I'll try with this then, thanks.

Nope, this didn't help... I'll try to reinstall with standalone client.

Can Horizons client connect?
I have a problem with my ISP. Odyssey can only install, validate and launch through my VPN. But after the main menu of the Odyssey client shows up, it will only connect to game servers if my VPN is off.

Problem was with my network adapter/router. I've changed my local ip adress from static to DHCP-appointed and error disappears. Looks like router didn't process UPNP for static adresses.

To get my VPN (ExpressVPN) to work with Elite Dangerous (ED) is to disable the appropriate executable use of the VPN.

1. Disconnect from VPN
2. Open Options
3. General tab: Manage connection on a per-app basis, Click on the Settings button

You are now in the Split Tunnelling window. Add both the ED executables shown below.
OK/Apply your way out of those windows and Bob's your uncle.
