Can't Form Wing

I'm not sure if this is a bug or if I'm doing something wrong so I'm posting here for now. I tried for the first time to form a wing with my friend on Xbox to no avail.

We tried both in a private group and in open play. Both times we got right next to each other where our ships were actually touching. I'd go to his name on the comms panel, select invite to wing, and he'd receive no notification to accept. Sometimes that option wasn't even there. We tried relogging, restarting, etc... but nothing worked. If I can see his ship right in front of me, I don't think it's an internet or NAT issue.

Am I doing something wrong or does this sound like a bug?

NAT types were both open. I'm always appear online and I could see him in my friends list so I'm assuming he was but I'll double check. I'll have us both try clear cache as well.

Yes and yes. We jumped several times and I continually tried sending invites but he never got them. Same thing when he tried sending them to me. No filters on the inbox either.

I'm just throwing this out there - don't shoot the messenger lol...If you use Ubiquiti products, there are special settings you have to do get the NAT to work on the router side. There are YouTube videos on which commands to run.
