Can't get into the game.

I am completely lost. I first bought Elite prior to 2016 and then bought a season pass - (whatever that is!) for Elite Dangerous Horizons. I haven't used the programme until now and can't get into the game. On the bottom there are only options to upgrade. Can anyone tell me in plain English what I have to do. I'm 74, a programmer who has written millions of lines of code but don't have enough years left to mess around reading hundreds of topics. There seems to be no way of contacting Frontier. I have done a system check re the latest offering and it's not the right spec but surely I can play the original game!
 
Yes, you have to allow it to upgrade, which takes quite a while and shows no progress for a long time. Once the upgrade is complete, the button will say Play instead.
 
Thank you. Upgrade implies a payment is requirement is required - it should say 'update' or 'update needed' or similar. Yes you are right, it is taking a long time. When I went to my account it had 'renew' against both purchases. No explanation!
