Horizons Can't plot route to my first tutorial (?) Engineer.

I just purchased the Horizons expansion and I received an email from what I'm assuming is my first engineer contact (tutorial contact). Problem is, he's so far away from me that I can't plot a route to get to him. So what am I supposed to do? Completely refit my ship, or purchase a new one, in order to do the first bit of content that I've paid for? Would just installing a Fuel Scoop solve the problem completely?

Sorry if this is a noobish question, still a new player here. Thanks in advance!

Since they are in the bubble and I am assuming you are as well, a scoop or stopping occasionally for fuel should get you there. That being said, if you just cant plot to them it may also be your ships jump range....may need to be sorted a little as well.

Ok, that's totally doable....you may just need to hit a station and sort out your jump range. One (or more) of the jumps needed may just exceed your reach at the moment. Buy best FSD you can afford and kit other mods with range in mind and you'll be golden.

Ok thanks I'll look into it. I was thinking of just using the map to navigate but it's really difficult to use the map in that way. Or perhaps I'm just not used to it quite yet.

Map is a pain until you get a jump range above 15Ly.

Starting sidewinder is ok if you A grade the Frame Shift Drive. To do this you need moneys. Best bet is to got to Kremainn or similarly spelt (about 2 jumps away) and go to the gas giant. Go into the High Res and follow the system security ships around. Target wanted ships with high bounties as the security reduce them below 5% hull and steal their kill, they don't mind, honest :)
Takes a lot of patience but the big ships can be worth 100k-200k credits. After the first few get a kill warrant scanner (more rewards from kills if scanned) and experiment with lots of different weapons whilst you're in a tiny ship with nothing to loose. Railguns are fun fyi. :)
That'll get you a good few hundred thousand credits to get a ship that can move about the galaxy a bit. Makes the map much more usable for travel more than 4 systems away.

Don't waste your time just yet. Wait until you get a Cobra. Instead, got to the Resource Extraction Site in LTT 15574 and tag the ships that the feds have nearly killed to get the bounties. You should be able to get enough for a decent Cobra in a couple of sessions.
