can't start game

Yes, the log doesn't really show anything special (any log I checked anyway). Though I don't know, what the log is supposed to show... ;-)

I opened a ticket yesterday, but have not received an answer and/or an edit yet.

I'll wait till tomorrow, then I'll write an additional message (not a ticket)...

Thank you for all of your support. Great community!

No change.

It almost seems as if the launcher doesn't really do anything at all. Even the logs (network, client log, Debug output log) don't really show anything. The recommended change in the APPCONFIG (as I understand it - so that everything gets logged somehow) doesn't do anything: No new log produced, etc.

It's probably just a nudge over the edge and the baby will fly...

I have installed the launcher and I have installed the game (I think). As soon as I log in, I get the "Play" button. But when I press it - nothing happens

A similar thing happened to me when I updated from one version of Alpha to another.

  • Run the launcher
  • Click top right (where the email address is shown) and select uninstall game
  • From the control panel uninstall EDLauncher
  • Download installer from the website (just to be sure you're on correct version)
  • Install EDlauncher
  • Download & reinstall ED

Long winded I know but it fixed it for me.

ETA: My issue was caused when FD released a new launcher - for some odd reason it didn't recognise the game on the HDD so when I clicked "play" nothing happened.

The game uses certainly of DLL's Windows. Perhaps a DLL is corrupted ? Perhaps a problem in the base of register ? If the majority of the players have access to the alpha and not him, it is because the problem is a problem of system, optionally. I do not see a problem hardware for its configuration.

Try to install Windows on another hard drive (if you have) or reinstall Windows on your current drive. You will see, well

If it can help in the analysis of this problem. I have the same problem but in a another area. But this is also a button programmed by Frontier. This button does not react to the event "Click". In the forum, in a post, if I click on the button "Spoiler" button for Show / Hide, nothing is happening. I am in the Chrome browser. If I go to in the Internet Explorer browser, the "Spoiler" button reacts to the event "Click". In his cases, as in the mine, the button does not react to 100%, apparently. Perhaps a problem of settings for Windows and Chrome ?

Missing XINPUT1_3.dll

I had the same symptoms. Play button just disappears for a second and nothing happens.

My brand new version of DirectX shipped with Windows 8.1 didn't seem to have XINPUT1_3.dll. I had to download DirectX Runtime from Microsoft to get it. The download errored at the end but it still installed the dll ok. Now the Play button works. Job Done.

He is on the Windows 7 ...

Try this

I had this problem as well, this is what I did to get it working for me:

I first uninstalled the game and launcher, nuked the folders off the drive.

I then installed the launcher on my root drive in to a folder I created for the install "C:\ED"

I then created a folder in ED called "Products"

I then went to the folder and set my users, admins, and specific user account to have full permissions to ED and set those permissions to inherit down to all subfolders so anything under ED they would also have full permissions to.

I started the launcher and the launcher showed in yellow the new custom install location.

I ran the installer.

I was able to press play and launch the game.

@Eintzbier

well, the launcher did start the game, but the screen was black - no video to be seen. And after clicking on some button (which I couldn't see), the game crashed.

Thanks for the hints, guys. I'll continue to (try to) get the game running...

Did you do as advised by Michael? :)

I have the same problem - Windows 8.1, had to download DirectX 11, then the Play button worked - opened onto a black screen. I can hear the music and hear blips as the new cursor passes over black buttons that I can't see. Also it opens in a window, rather than full-screen, which isn't as immersive as I'd like.

I assume it is a hardware issue - my setup is quite old now. I was going to upgrade before Standard Beta, but I got over-excited today and upgraded to Premium Beta to get the single-player offer.

My hardware:
AMD Athlon x2 250 (Dual Core) 3GHz
2GHz RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 1GHz

Wait. Seriously.

For some reason (ticketed) mine on 8.1 takes about 5 minutes to load from pressing play in the launcher. Press play, go and make a cup of tea, or walk the dog. See what happens then.

If you watch it in task manager it will show as Not Responding, but it comes back. At least for me.

I'll try making a cup of tea then and see if that helps!

Black screens sounds like driver problems...

I guess you guys with the problems have gone to nvidia and picked up graphics drivers?

Toad.

@Toad

good point. I'd just upgraded my OS last week so it was worth a go. No joy though. Back to the tea method....(7 minutes and counting so far)

My understanding is that a quad core is needed.

I'm having the same issues. I click the play button and nothing happens. I have disabled my firewall to test, and made sure I had the latest version of DirectX installed. Any help would be appreciated. My specs are:

Windows 7 Pro SP1
Intel i7 860 @2.8 GHz
8 GHz ram
nvidia GeForce GTX 750ti
