Can't type in Galaxy Map search using Rift and latest Dash

Well I seem to have it working with your pinned keyboard Cylon. [smile]

If I change my Graphics settings in game from Windowed mode, to Borderless, I can type in the Galmap. Next I'll try Full screen and see what happens.

Is there a setting somewhere that stops the Rift from moving the cursor around in the Galaxy map/System map, and Starport services. I would really like to just navigate the menus with my controller, and not have my head movement "triggering" menu items.

Well that is good news. Glad to hear you're making progress.

Why would you ever want the game to run in full screen when in VR ?

I was just trying to test things, and see what works, and what didn't. I found out that full screen is a no go at all, and even borderless in the end was no good. I could pin a keyboard, and it worked (sometimes), but I couldn't see the virtual desktop, go figure. I even got windowed mode to work, but it was so hit and miss whether the pinned keyboard would work, that I've basically given up.

This used to work without issue, and nothing has been changed at my end other than Windows, Oculus, and Ed updates, so I'm at a loss as to why it's not working now.

Even the voice dictation from HCS voice packs is not working now, and I know for sure it was working fine before. It's the same issue, if Galmap is open, it has complete focus and won't let go. Meaning my virtual desktop is not seamless. The only way it's seamless is if I go to the virtual desktop straight from the cockpit seat, with no other in game windows/menus open.

I have just given up, leave the game client window as it starts up.

No benefits to changing it and since I don't use the mouse for anything, got it all mapped up on my HOTAS, from long before I got VR. I don't tend loose focus on the game either.

As for gal map navigation, EDDB has the little icon for putting a system name into the copy paste buffer, and then I just have VA setup for a paste command.

Also I use bookmarks.
A LOT of bookmarks.

One trick with them is you can use numbers to sort them, and those numbers can even hold decimals.
So I keep them prioritized.

And for instance trade routes I bookmark something like 3.1 whatever system and 3.2 whatever next system

As for exploration I can't be bothered, I make it 1500 ly from the main bubble and I get so bored I feel like stabbing toothpicks under my fingernails to relieve the boredom.

And my last attempt was in a 50ly capable clipper :p

Another firmware update came in yesterday for the Rift/Oculus, no change in the "problematic" behavior at my end.

Ya, the copy paste from EDDB works well, but the last few days I've been using the voice dictation from HCS voice packs Singularity profile in VA, and it's working very well. Haven't had any problems "typing" with it. So far there hasn't been a letter I've spoken that it didn't understand, and it works fairly quick. Provided you have the spelling in your head of where you want to go, and your proficient with the phonetic alphabet, which luckily I am from my sailing days a long time ago.[smile]

I had the same issue as the OP with the system keyboard, but your one seems to work much better so far - I haven't had time to test it properly, and only issue I've had is getting back to Elite (tho that may be me not pressing buttons and switching controllers etc in the right order.... (I hadn't played with DASh much before reading this, so still figuring it out). But thanks for making your app available Cylonsurfer - much appreciated.

If you use Voice Attack you could assign a voice command, like 'paste', to CTRL V.

It's what I do. I know it is far from ideal because you still need the keyboard, need to Alt tab out of ED and copy the text before tabbing back into elite. But it is OK for me.

But once you are in ED all you need to do is click into the box and say 'paste'

Your computer is not limited to one keyboard. You can have as many connected at once and they all work. If your cockpit doesn't allow your full size keyboard, would it allow a smaller one? There are some pretty small keyboards meant for media computers or tablets.

I use just use the right touch controller as desktop mouse.
You can left and right click as needed and even select text.

Many websites, like EDDB also has icons you click that puts data directly into your clipboard buffer.
So you just execute the paste where you need it.

At this very moment.
I have my g19, my old g15, a MS sculpt wireless keyboard and a logitech wireless small keyboard with touchpad, all connected and working.

The g15, is availble at my VR station, and the small logitech one resides at my couch for when I use my pc on the big screen.

I also have two mice and the touchpad connected.

Not to mention:
My main joystick, two throttles (CH and warthog), pedals etc etc.
