I saw that.
It was an awesome (I rarely use this word) sight to witness a farragut drop into the system, almost on top of me.
The sound, the lightning, the doom cloud, completely amazing.
Well you could use it as an foward base of operations like mentioned by racthet5000.
I can see a big advantage for an explorer who just needs to go back to his/her capital ship transmit the newly found planet and colonise it from there.
Pirates can use it in a simillar way only difference is that they can sent out scouting ships and they can signal the mother ship about a juicy prey and they start stalking it.
Hell we can even get trader wings and forming up an armed convoy to get cargo safely to a planet, besides standard fast fighters they can have one capital ship fixing and refueling these fighters.
Bounty Hunters can use these ships to capture targets alive and lock them up in a onboard prision and transmit the capture to the home planet and bring all these prisioners to a home planet. Or a clan/group bounty hunters can work together and share a capital ship where their bounties can be brought to and have a bulliten billboard stating the status of a certain bounty.
I just mentioned a couple of things but imagine the possibilities that we can have if we get these ships.
From newsletter 29:
We do intend to release small, free updates after launch, but expansions that include significant new features and content will be charged for separately. For example, our current roadmap is to add (in no particular order):
- Landing/ driving / prospecting on airless rocky planets, moons & asteroids
- Walking around interiors and combative boarding of other ships
- Combat and other interactions with other players and AIs in the internal areas of star ports
- Accessing richly detailed planetary surfaces
- Availability of giant ‘executive control’ ships to players
I like the wayyou think and I'm all for this....+1.
God it sends a shiver up my spine each time I see a capital ship jump in. Glorious![]()
