[Career Mode] Great Caldera Safari Park - Just a bad scenario =/

It's a great park and all... I was really looking forward to play it to the end as it looked and seemed rather interesting... until my keepers refused to fill the giraffe's feeding tower thingies and every time I called them to the habitat they filled the springbok's stuff and then left. Hired a small army of them to feed the giraffes but.... they kept feeding the Springboks and leaving.... ugh.

Has anyone played the scenario and gotten them to actually feed the giraffes and fill all of the feeding stations instead of like exactly one... that one that's right by the safari tracks seems to be the only one they actually fill and then the giraffes won't eat from it even when they're starving. ><;;; I've moved them around, deleted them and bought new ones, deleted the springbok's food enrichment thingies but for some reason the keepers in this scenario are giraffe haters or something. ><; I had a feeling that the AI keepers with the speed at which time progresses in the game would have a really hard time with large habitats... and this scenario seems to bring that issue into glaring light. The scenario was going fine until then... I noticed that the keepers in maple leaf would eventually get really late on feedings for some of the animals and exhibit animals too even though I only had them doing an enclosure or two or an enclosure + a few exhibits at a time.

So far it seems that the career mode parks were ill thought out. Not being able to use terrain tools in the first one after the tutorial-- maple leaf(?) was kind of a pain because the water is placed in rather awkward places and there's so much "uneven ground" that it makes placing things-- not to mention paths-- a nightmare at times.

Update-- restarted... same situation. Put 3 keepers in the giraffe habitat with feeding only checked. Still not feeding the giraffes. The scenario starts off with diseased water for the two big habitats (elephants/zebras & giraffes/springbok)... it's a pretty nightmare level scenario for only the second one well... if you care about things other than just the objectives I suppose. The whole thing is a really frustrating mess. Can't even concentrate on where to build the future required habitats for the cheetahs and lions let alone the ones for something to get the 1600 guest amount. Constantly micromanaging keeper settings since they won't feed animals. Having to manually move diseased animals to quarantine because the water treatment takes forever. Not a very fun one. I'd rather start this zoo from scratch and build it right the first time =/

Agree i took a silver star so far and what left for me is to breed another one animal and to reach guests 2800.now i have 2500.
Believe me the finances won't go profitable no matter what i try.I fired almost everyone from my staff and then there are other problems, like litter ,mechanical fallouts and feedless animals.
Very big rubbish this scenario

I got a gold on this level rather easily, bar a few instances where I had to wait for numbers to count up. I'm actually surprised so many people struggle on this level, since I don't exactly consider myself an expert with management games xD Did I just get lucky? I don't know.

The main issue I had was with animals being perpetually sick but even then my vets were extremely efficient. I also didn't see my giraffes in particular being starved. I even put in 1-2 extra species into both the larger habitats, and they were all getting fed -- except one baby wildebeest and that's just cause he kept getting stuck in the Jeep tunnel.

Other than that I have to disagree with you on being unable to edit terrain. Personally I like that, I think it adds to the whole challenge: you have to work with what you have. The Canada level was easy to spread out over and use a lot of the "terrain levels" they gave. I actually plan to go back to this level in challenge or sandbox and make a bigger zoo, all without editting terrain still.

I might be in the minority that like the career, I don't know.

Giraffes fed no problem. I gave them the water tap things to drink from and that seemed to solve the disease problem. I can't seem to get the finances out of the red so am stuck just short of the silver award. I am going to try starting over and won't waste time trying to clean the lake. Releasing animals to keep numbers small will help with the food cost too.

I have been struggling with this as well. I can't get the lake to become clean. It looks like we might as well fence off the lake and just have water troughs just to progress. Because the game tells you diddly-squat about how to effectively deal with the disease causing lake. I placed down an extra two filters to bring the total covering the water body to four and nadda. Became clean for a little bit after a year and then went bad again.

If it was a scripted event, then a character should have popped back up for a voiced segment to give a bit of context. Right now I'm confused and wondering if it's a bug (to add to the list) or bad design.

Making me want to give up on the game.

I'm having the same problem. Not helped by the fact that I'm completely new with no Planet Coaster experience, and I have little idea how the various building tools work, and I'm becoming increasingly frustrated with the game.

Interestingly, in desperation I looked up a guide for the scenario on Youtube, hoping it would at least show me how to build the various things I need to clean the water. In the vid I watched, the player doesn't have the dirty water issue! They just complete the scenario objectives, without having to deal with water filters or fencing off lakes!

Link to the video here!

Could it be the scenario is broken?

By the way, if anyone has a comprehensive but beginners guide to all the building controls, I'd be very very grateful. All the snapping, unsnapping, aligning or not has me tearing my hair out! :)

I had the exact same thing happen! My giraffe starved to death. Despite there being three zookeepers standing right next to the empty giraffe feeders. I would call them and they would just fill the stoneybrook enrichment items. That plus all the animals keep getting sick from the water despite placing many water pumps. It’s so frustrating can’t even focus on the scenario goals. Your description is 100% what happened to me. I’m glad I’m not crazy.

I didn't have any problems with feeding, and I don't think I did anything special with keepers in that scenario. I did go negative on cash, took a loan, and had to sit and spin for a bit. But using conservation credits to continue buying animals did eventually allow me to get out of the hole. I could not keep the lake clean, but was able to fully research the disease that kept going around from it, which kept the outbreaks manageable.
