Cargo storage on stations/starports/etc.

Hey, just thinking about what could have a big impact on the game. This feature would greatly encourage people to get materials and pickup things that they may not need at the time. This would help with engineering and all sorts of missions.

What I encounter now is that if I picked up anything, then I have to sell it right away or get rid of it due to the fact that other ships may not have the cargo capacity to keep it onboard. I tend to avoid collecting anything because of this unless it is something I’m actively searching for.

I think being able to pick a home port and using in game money to buy a "storage" space in a station would be cool. so you could store things you dont want to sell right away but it is only at your home station and cant be transferred.

This would alleviate some of the stress of unlocking some engineers as well, like, say...I dunno...MARCO QWENT?

Yeah, have been trying different ways of playing the game and think something like this would impact the game a lot. There is so much materials needed for everything and can’ believe that something like this hasn’t been implemented.

One of my Wing members got my Modular Terminals as a Wing Mission reward and carried them around for 3 days until I could unlock Qwent. Then we went someplace quiet and had a Terminal -> Limpet party. Ridiculous. I'm happy to debate the pros and cons of storage with anyone (not that I would change anyone's mind, but I could probably counter any objection with solutions).

Apparently some people actually buy another copy of the game so they can store their stuff in some huge ship with tons of cargo space. Doubly Ridiculous!

Implement Storage In Q4!

Wow hadn’t thought about second accounts with ships. That’s a clear sign of things not quite working.

yeah, you arn'tt the first to suggest this, I said it almost a year ago, and there were others before me no doubt.

this would be essential for Ram Tah missions, Thargoid interactions, and personal trophies (the first piece of Painite I mined for example)

you would still need to pay for the transfer fee on these items, but it means you can have a stock of tissue samples, guardian items that aren't at risk of being attacked or lost.

I have no idea why you can't store stuff in your ships that you are not currently flying.

Some things could have a 'real-life-safety-reason' but then again we store nukes and toxic waste these days without 33rd century field technology. The only reason is so that you CAN'T do stuff like store things for missions or unlocks. It's a bit petty if you ask me.

Back in 2.1 when the engineers appeared, commodity (and module) storage was a real necessity. Now it would be just a nice QoL addition, but not something critical. The only time you would need the storage now is for Marco Quent (one time) and for the technology broker commodities (also one time to unlock the part). What have changed between 2.1 and now is that the engineers blueprints don't require commodities and the material reward option in the game gives you plenty what few commodities you cannot buy anywhere. During my latest Robigo sightseeing adventure runs (for mats/data on the PC account and for money on the Xbox account), I saw more than once 25 modular terminal rewards PER MISSION (fewer also, but, you know, Marco accepts partial payments, too). Also there are a lot of wing missions with more than that as an optional reward.

All in all, although I have nothing against the OP idea and I will gladly accept it, I just want to say that, today, we don't really need this anymore. The game made those things much easier that when they initially launched.

I have to dump my limpets when I switch to a ship without storage. I’d be happy if they let us keep them in the ship instead of dumping them.
