Our 1.4 Update is live and we’re sure that you’ve already been experimenting with the brand new Scenario Editor! Perfect time for some competition...

Are you ready to... cause a Scene?

We’re challenging you to create the most original custom Scenario you can think of! We’re looking for a complete experience, inside or outside of the box. The sky really is the limit in this one.

Starts: Thursday November 23, 2017 at 12PM GMT.
Ends: Tuesday December 5, 2017 at 12PM GMT.
The best three Scenarios will be promoted in our bi-weekly Newsletter and on our official website and social media pages. The winners will also receive a Planet Coaster goodie bag filled with fun Frontier things!

The winning Scenario will be played by Lead Artist Sam Denney during our 24 Hour Charity Livestream, so be sure to give him a good challenge (that can be finished within the hour)!! There’ll be points for Scenario objectives, overall look of the park, and originality; impress us with a fun back story or utter difficulty of your Scenario (extra points for full themes and creativity!). The Frontier dev team will go through all winners after the competition closes.

RULES
  • Only full Scenario blueprints will be accepted; save or zip files do not count as a submission.
  • Your Scenario cannot feature any copyrighted materials.
  • Be creative and build your own park and its surroundings; feel free to use Planet Coaster building blueprints. If you use any blueprints from other creators in your Scenario, please be kind and write their name in the description of the Scenario on Steam so we can give them a proper shout out.
  • Please include a description on your Steam Workshop link.
  • Please try to limit your blueprint files; we will obviously do our best to view it as intended but are limited by development time.
  • Your Scenario will only officially enter if you submit via community@frontier.co.uk with subject header “Planet Coaster Custom Scenario”.

We cannot wait to see what you come up with! If you have any questions, please pop them down in this forum thread.

I want to enter - 1.4.1 crashes my game when I want to test the scenario I've been working on. Submitted my bug report etc etc

Wish the competition wasn't starting while a lot of players still can't get the new content to work while others are having no issues. [cry]

Don't worry; we've got a patch later today with most of the crashes fixed! Hang tight!

I really hope you guys can show off a recreation of Forest Frontiers in one of your streams at some point (it doesnt have to be for the contest) but its the scenario that started it all! I think its pretty cool how your company name almost matches the name of the first scenario ever played in RCT [cool] Also Vanilla Hills would be cool to see, that was the first scenario from RCT3 [big grin][up]

Just seen this and it looks amazing. Will be working straight away tomorrow. Just one question, as I’m kind of confused on what it means by “scenario blueprints, not save or zip file”.
Does this mean we have to select every single thing in our finished park and save it all as one blueprints or upload it? How will paths and bins/benches work IF this is the case, and if it’s not then how do I upload the park otherwise.

Thank you,
Harry//Dinko

No you just save it as a park and upload that as a park blueprint to steam. Sometimes people send us a zip file of their local save files and we cannot accept those submissions :)

Here are the winners of the competition!

Island Hopping by Tinwelende
Captain Lockjaw has stumbled upon some adorable islands and decided to turn them into an amusement park. Unfortunately his treasure chest is now empty, so he needs a hand to produce some proper revenue. It’s up to you to turn this ship around!
Tinwelende did a fabulous job with this tropical park, creating a lush little village on one of the thriving islands and laying down the groundwork for a blooming new theme park.

Grand Valley by Boochoo
In the middle of this beautiful valley lies an aging theme park... and we need to modernise it to attract more guests! Reach a total park value of $160,000 and a scenery rank of 990 to ace the objectives!
Using the autumnal trees and minimising the space of the park, Boochoo really challenges you to make the best of this hidden gem within the forests of Grand Valley.

Snow Dune Valley by HeadCrash
After an investor has lost interest in Snow Dune Valley, the park falls into your hands. Can you build coasters and rides to attract new guests, and achieve a total park value of $130,000?
HeadCrash certainly knows how to challenge you in this icy area; we dare you to turn up the heat in this little snow village.

Sam Denney will attempt to finish them at 8AM on Tuesday December 12 during our 24 hour livestream over on twitch.tv/frontierdevelopments.

Thanks to everyone for submitting your awesome Scenarios!

The scenarios are all beautiful, but the play is uneven.

Island Hopping

Place one ride and one coaster. Done. Way too easy.

Grand Valley
This scenario is a grind festival.

The scenario starts as paid park entry, free rides, and the park is filled with guests - basically no income available. Reboot time: I closed the park, kicked out the guests, changed it to free park entry and increased ride prices.

The objective for a 75mph coaster plus the height restriction means you either need a launched coaster or dig deep holes in the ground to get a coaster up to 75mph. Since there is no guarantee about the research tree, and you need another coaster straightaway, the clear choice is digging deep holes.

The crime objective requires six months crime suppression, and you have to train your security team before you can complete this one.

The park scenery rating and park value objectives are overly high. To finish the scenario, I placed about a dozen copies of a $2,000 building blueprint. The blueprint was a car collection, so at the end I had a parking lot adjacent to the deep holes in the ground I dug for the benefit of my coasters. It was not attractive.

Snow Dune Valley

This is the best balanced of the three winners, in my opinion. The objectives are not trivial, but can be completed in a reasonable time. The objectives encourage building an attractive park. I could not ask for more from a scenario.

You should make a new topic for this discussion, nobody will pay attention to it in here.
