CG, game itself actually encouraging cheating??

So I saw CG top 75% earn 144 million, thought I would gather some data, looked for some resource on efficient means to do so.

Found Exigeous youtube video telling you to log/relog at jamesone crash site repeatedly.

Of course I can't do that because I have a soul. I am super disappointed that not only has that loop not been closed, but apparently passively encouraged for exploitation, (and actively so by leading fans)

So, what, do I have to cheat too .

I can only imagine re-logging was crucial to gathering guardian artifacts as well.

What are you doing?

It's not cheating by definition, but obviously this event is based on exploitable mechanic - I'm not sure how much Fdev realised this when setting this up - they certainly realised it when they modified tiers - when it was obvious that people are able to farm those mats ad nuseam and flood the CG with it.

They did say in the last Odyssey livestream that they are looking into preventing it. The possibility to do the relog exploit may be migrating south for the duration of time if they do.

I have been ganking the hell out of the Jameson Crash site all evening. If your ship is on the ground and it has Imperial tags, it's getting strafed. Bring rebuy money.

Feds in SRVs, scan data to your hearts content. Your air cover is provided courtesy of FUC.

Who in their right mind would be farming that site in open? wouldn’t you be sharing an instance and scanned/unscanned datapoints

If they hadn't intended us to cheese materials gathering, they would have made it not suck.

Y'know, designed it around a reasonable rarity to utility curve where every type of material at every grade was roughly on-curve for availability, rather than some G5s ing out like water and some G1s being nowhere to be found.

With any luck they will figure it out this time. The salt mines will be restocked for years if they do
Yep, gather mats/data for engineering, and synth, becomes a lot more time consuming without relog. Even with Traders. Fully engineering one of the big 4 takes hundreds of mats/data. Killing relog at Dav's/Jameson's crash and the like will definitely cause the salt to flow.

Fdev would have to be really out of touch, as in a galaxy away sort of out of touch with their game if they did not know how the data for this CG was going to be gathered. Jameson crash relog. Fly to Jameson Crash, 10-15 minutes of relogs, then off to trader, then off to turn in, then back to Jameson. It's a 30-40 minute game loop.

By now it's pretty much legit game mechanic.

FDev touched on it earlier this week in a live stream saying that they are looking into ways to address the relog issue. The only reason people do it is because it is the easy way, then they get used to it then will complain when their free meal ticket expires. I have a near G5 Cutter and haven't done the relog game, over time playing, aside from the raw materials planet-side, the other data just comes naturally by playing and doing missions. But hey, who does missions anymore when there is a cash cow with 10+ FC's orbiting it

Relogging isn't cheating. Neither is it particularly effective. Stack a bunch of planetary surface scan missions, take data rewards from missions, scan ships in supercruise, hack megaships, raid planetary settlements... there's so many options. These relog-grind-guides are dated and no longer relevant.
