CG predictions...

I don't think we have enough ages of people to figure out an upper limit on when women can typically give birth in Elite, though. People live much longer, sure, but that could still be a factor. And unlike Hengist, she can't just find someone younger to carry a heir (probably).

Actually, I guess Florence was referred to as a "childhood sweetheart" which probably puts their ages close together and decently above Arissa's.

Given that the Imperials until Hengist didn't even allow women in the Imperial Palace, and were utterly paranoid about the sanctity of the Imperial genes besides, I assume that they have some sort of cloning and genetic engineering facility which minimises the need for human biology to be anywhere near the process of producing heirs.

(And probably some ultra-secret facility buried thousands of LY out in deep space to provide a backup genetic repository in the event of something catastrophic happening to all living Duvals, too)

Is that why Raxxla is spelled with a double X?

I dont know if its intended or not (Im dumb for Powerplay), but Edmund Mahon not only dropped into a turmoil, but started an expansion to 2MASS J03291977+3124572 system, roughly 1000 ly from the bubble... 👀

Celebrations in Sol for Federal Election

Pilots’ Federation ALERT

A series of public events to celebrate the forthcoming presidential election are being held in the Sol system.

Congress approved a request by President Zachary Hudson to finance a range of festivities, concerts and shows across the home system of the Federation.

Billions of people are expected to attend, leading to a request for supplies of Crystalline Spheres, Gerasian Gueuze Beer, Indi Bourbon, LTT Hyper Sweet and Pantaa Prayer Sticks to be delivered to Li Qing Jao starport in orbit over planet Earth. Congress also agreed to authorise a temporary two-week permit for all Pilots’ Federation members to access the Sol system.

President Hudson announced the events across all Federal news channels, where he said:

“Now we approach the time, as determined centuries ago by the Federal Accord, of our civilisation’s most profound tradition: the peaceful transfer of power. I have been deeply honoured to serve as your president for the past eight years. And you, the people of the galaxy’s largest ever democracy, deserve to celebrate all that we have accomplished together.”

Vox Galactica’s political journalist Conrad Sterling observed:

“This is clearly a high-profile attempt to boost public morale, one that allows President Hudson to leave office on a positive note. Political critics are viewing it as a way to distract the citizens from the prolonged Thargoid war, the recent Rackham scandal, and various other challenges besetting the Federation. But the eagerness of most citizens to embrace the sentiment proves one fact remains true: everyone loves a party.”

Voting will open next Thursday for Federal citizens to choose either Vice President Jerome Archer or Shadow President Felicia Winters as their next president. The election winner will be announced at the start of the following week.

Looks like an attempt to either get everyone too drunk to vote without help or so sick from booze related issues that the election can be postponed again.

Yay! Election time next week!
I suppose there will be a CG and, since it's the Federation we're talking about, CMDRs will be able to vote with their guns!
Who will win? Winters!

Archer you say? Hmmm... no PP portrait, no chance, sorry .

Perhaps a surprise last minute entry by Hudson? 🤔

It’s sad when you can predict the outcome of the story simply based on what’s less effort for FDEV.

The Federal election of 3300 had over two trillion eligible voters, but still technically true.

The collapse does seem to have mostly stopped for now - the Federation has only lost another 37 systems in the last 6 months; Empire up 34, Alliance up 19 - so maybe things are stabilising.

I doubt we count as "Federal citizens", and the Monday announcement wouldn't be like a typical CG either.

Cynical guess is that the vote starts next Thursday so they can avoid writing a second GalNet about it and instead just stick it onto the end of the CG completion one.
Slightly less cynical guess is that the vote is on a Thursday so that something can get blown up and derail it.

Voting is always on a Thursday here in the UK

I would be a teeny tiny bit surprised if there was no sudden disruption of the third kind, aka Thargoids, to the process… it’s far too convenient of a timing.

Saved!

Hmmm... is there some Halsey overlap in that?

Hopefully it's not a Thomas Kane one.
Well, i would assume there is nothing growing in them for the moment. At least nothing currently observable

Oh wait!
That's another universe
Scrap that

Funny, but I’m convinced that this is far too simple and straightforward. I fully expect there to be more coming out of this.
