Community Event / Creation Chair - with attachments

Oh my, with just a few quick steps your creating very believable props!! VERY well done mate!

Love the name patch ;)

Looks good Commander!

A bit of finishing today, black spray after assembly

gold and dark gray added with brush

Metallic silver details

Bought some redish paint today so need to work out how to get some rust detailing on. Experimentation needed!

A fair bit done today

Bolted the keyboard support on, before I'd had it hanging with bits of shaped wire

keyboard in place

Another repair patch, in fact a patch on patch to make it look really old. Then applied some filler round it to make it look like bad welding and I'll use a brush to gray it up

Rust effect testing. A tester pot of rust coloured paint, pour a tiny bit into a shot glass and add water.

Dribble a bit down from the bolt on this occasion and wait 2 minutes

carefully press tissue up against the dribble then remove and all that's left is a kind of watermark

same again but possibly a bit clearer

add tissue

and remove

I used a bit of sponge to get tiny rust dots on the corners

jtvji04l.jpg

also made a start on the pound shop space gun upgrade. I wanted to add cables and a possible 'laser sight'. Halfway through the paint job but the boss is due home so i'd better tidy up!

Weapon in position, although I may add a tiny bit more to it but don't want to over cook it. I may have to think of a better way of fixing it to the chair, it's currently balanced on a screw, inch and a half, for the use of

kTl8ZCJl.jpg

Mixed the rust coloured paint with some yellow for some different shades of rust. Then added some gray and some black for about 50 shades of rust

The back of the keyboard mount. The ribbed hose doesn't quite reach all the way round so I may have to rethink that. Also I may add some additional colour, additional grays/blacks and the brass to some as it's looking a little plain

50 shades of rust on the other side too

For the first time in this build, the to do list is getting shorter!

I also picked up some curtains during the week to seperate this from the rest of my workshop, that way real life can stay out!

The amount of effort and detail you've put into this never ceases to amaze me.

Same here. I feel daunted and excited by it all at the same time!

Thanks guys! Progress has been a bit slow this week as my workshop is in the roof and it's been a BIT toasty up there but I have been working on the side panel

and

also started putting the flooring down around the chair too

Still more to do and hopefully it'll cool down a tad

Tell you what Cmdr .. this build really is, out of this world.

Genuinely.

Comes complete with platform. Awesome!

Thanks guys.

A little bit more finishing today,

Added some pad strips above and below my commander tag, purely for aesthetic reasons

GYbj34sl.jpg

Added some weld effect round the emergency hatch

SwP7zxEl.jpg

Then painted in metallic silver with a fine brush. I still need to do a tiny bit of ageing to the weld.

Also added vinyl inside to hide assorted wires

Superb work. As an amateur bodger this is well above my level but I really like what you are doing. Keep up the good work.

Great stuff Commander ...

** update giving me less shudder, but severe lock ups at dock ie. system wide crashes off laptop!
.. hence, limping to port for ship upgrade, followed by exploration trip!

You're going to have to put a video together once you've completed it. I'd love to see a walk-around / tour.

Will do Commander, I'm having a launch party at Sagittarius A so I'll do a video to show.
Everybody welcome, aboard my ASP 'The mildly suprised badger', I'm about 890 ly away so should be there this weekend.
Dress code - black tie

Well, finally finished. Last two photos before the video goes up. However as Commander Enride said a few pages ago "...These projects are never "finished"..." and yes the floor may be redone and a few other bits but it's good enough to go.

So, in honour of the finish of the build I timed it with arriving at Sag A* and put on my DJ ( I said black tie in the invites ) had a glass of wine and some of those pineapple on a stick things and stared at the great annihilator

Great job Commander Pigfumbler

.. on the pit build, the video, the Bowie remix, the Sag A trip ...

.. and on looking proper dapper for arrival at that supermassive!

Sterling stuff!

Amazing build and very inspiring. I've dreamed about a simpit for years and this project birthed some ideas and will to start building one. Had some ideas of a small cage, like the sidewinder to add a handle just like in the game. Your build looks very personal. I can imagine the feeling of riding a good ol' car thats been with you for years. 10/10!

Thanks guys! I'll look forward to your build Commander! As you say it's personal, supposed to be a seat from an ancient cobra I flew in 1985, with more repairs than are good for it

PigFumbler, big gratz to finishing the simpit!
You endured and kept the level of detail all the way through, that is more the impressive!

Love the result, i said it before but do it again, theres a cobra somewhere missing its seat!
