Challenger = Chieftain = Crusader, Krait = Python... What's the point?

they need to release a combat ship that is on par with the fdl.

Sick of seeing that meta everywhere
Any ship is only as good as the pilot in the chair. FDL has never struck me as being a particularly good craft IMO; However, I would not be surprised if the Krait Phantom is touted as being an FDL alternative - though I would not bet on it personally.

Robin Williams once said that cocaine was God's way of telling you that you had too much money.

Every ship released for Beyond has been a combat ship.

Players have had too much money since Gamma, and they are willing to go to ridiculous levels of grind to max out their builds. A cursory look at Coriolis is all you need, to see how the new ships have gone to plaid over the ships introduced at the start. Tests show that my Python will last about twenty seconds against a Krait. It's fully armed and armored.

And players have been openly dissing anything smaller in cost.

Frontier needs a Game Master Intervention. They let the players go totally Monte Haul. They desire the revenue from multiplayer so badly, that they are blind to how it freezes out non-combat players. Or burns out every other player with a rebuy screen.

The Krait is the most egregious example. Players got their most fulfilling sensual fantasies, with the Super Python, with a Fighter Bay, and Big Guns. It's the I Win Ship.

"But...Thargoids!"

I'm willing to bet those combat ships will be used on other players, more than Thargoids. I'm also willing to bet that the PvE/PvP divorce lawyers are lining up even further than the Oort Cloud.

It's time for a collective clean save, and the elimination of anything bigger than an Asp Explorer. We've been playing a 20th level combat campaign for too long. Time for the Game Master to make us roll up new characters, and cap the campaign at 5th level or so.

Yeah, I know, like this is going to happen. But our current out-of-control campaign is going to end badly. Why not just sell only Kraits, and be done with it? The rest of us don't matter...

The kraits not super tanky or armed to the teeth, its just a really nice ship to fly. It's my current mat gatherer and fun pottering about ship.

I'd never consider it for a pure combat.

False - The Krait Mk II is multi-role in terms of fundamental design.

The Alliance Chieftain/Crusader are definitely combat vessels, the Challenger on the other hand is very combat capable but can be legitimately considered multi-role.

Ralph, you know I love you man, but on this one I gotta tell you, you're wrong. The Krait isn't special. It's good, but it's not special. Not special like the Python absolutely still is, and is the superior ship. If the Krait has just one more slot, then I'd agree with everything you said, but it doesn't thank god. Also, the lack of a single milslot denotes it a multi-purpose, not combat focused ship (the impressive jump range is also a hint).

As to your overall point about economy and I guess power creep, it's definitely valid for a large segment of the playerbase, but I hope nothing is done about that, because I for one still struggle for money, I would have you know. I am now skint again after just getting my first cutter. I just never ground credits, so never had a lot. Always had enough for what I want to do, but now I'm saving to build a challenger in the near future.

I disagree that the situation is anything even close to being out of control, the rhetoric like you are spewing probably has got out of hand in these forums though.

Kraits are not the be all and end all of ships - I will admit I do like my Krait but it is far from being perfect. While it is what I would consider a Python alternate, the Python is still a better choice for some roles/use-cases.

Fox, I still have less than $200 million in cash, due to all my ship tinkering. :)

I tried the Krait. A 35 light-year jump range is not going to get me to give up my Asp Explorer or DBX. Yes, it's more than the usual Killing Machine, but not much. Correct, it needs a dedicated combat slot.

So, why haven't explorers gotten dedicated exploration slots? Money. Multiplayer. Combat. All new toys for the combat players. They bring in the cash.

Forgive me for venting. A thread just declared all Cobra's dead. The Cool Kids on the forum are throwing anything Python or less out of their baby carriages, and shaking their baby rattles.

I just came back from a trip in a Cobra 4. Millions in data, and I killed an Expert Krait trying to stop me from selling it. All I get interdicted now is with Krait's, and British Main Battle Tanks.

It becomes quite tiring. OK, dev's, you have proven just how clever you are, just like every time you have introduced a new combat ship over the last four years. *Enough, already!*

Can you FedEx me some nice Greek chocolate fudge? I'll PayPal you. I need the comfort food. I really miss Mavrakos.

Thanks.

I'll send you anything you want Ralph, absolutely, shoot me a pm with what you want and if you know where I can get it, that would be helpful too :) Mavrakos, e? I'll have a look for that but I mean it, it would be my honour to make you happy. :) You can send me back some Wendys, lol. I miss wendys so bad... :D
