Yes, hereDoes anyone wish they could change their CMDR name on Xbox without changing their gamer tag?
There was discussion about this sometime ago. People who pledged in kickstarter (on high enough level) were promised unique CMDR name and way to reserve their CMDR name so no one else could take it. Then xbox version happened and people found out that their promised unique name wasn't unique anymore because xbox gamer tags meant xbox players could take your name. Many were really angry about this broken promises.
But in this discussion, frontier said they have no choice and have to use gamer tag on xbox as CMDR name because microsoft want and doesn't allow other approach. It isn't Frontiers choice.
Thats a shame
hope Sony arn't the same

That is a big lie. Other games allow you a custom name different than your GT. Mass Effect for example is one of them. Is down to the developer how they want to approach it.

Anyone?
Yeah, no. Your name was your gamertag in Mass Effect.
Unless you're talking about single player, in which case I don't know why you're talking about single player.
I gave two more examples: Neverwinter and Star Trek Online
No, it's true. This is what plagues Xbox users in any mass multiplayer game. From any mass multiplayers games i've played, you will always see your gamertag. Games such as Division and Elder Scrolls Online where you are your own character and are role-playing you only see other people's gamertags. Microsoft always gives some lame excuse for why they can't implement some kind of naming convention. I also believe this is the case with Destiny.
Is that not also the case for PSN with those same games?
