Changing Fire Groups

How do I do this? I know that the 1 in a circle binds to right trigger and the 2 in the blue circle binds to left trigger but how do I change fire groups? I want to be able to have a group with weapons and another for scanners. It seems that unlike the discovery scanner, the kill warrant and cargo scanner don't activate automatically or contextually.

Great question!

I tried the the exact same thing - mapping a scanner and my mining laser to a second fire group, but I could never figure out which button changed between the fire groups.

If you have weapons on fire group one and scanners on fire group 2, you can switch between them By holding X and tapping RB. You'll obviously need to configure the fire groups on your right hand monitor before hand :)

This will allow your weapons to be deployed independently from your scanners/ other equipment and vice versa

Hi Bkc02010

Once you've deployed hardpoints, you can cycle through to the other firegroups installed by pressing A.

Good luck out there. I'm loving it...cheers!

Thank you Dolphinrapture (lol), TheOohchild, and Sawbo. I'll be sure to try those out. Hopefully I didn't buy a kill warrant scanner for nothing because you can see whether someone is wanted by targeting them normally with Y, but the cargo scanner is clearly useful for pirates

The default scanner only shows bounties issued by the controlling faction in the system you are in, so you can use the kill warrant scanner to see if they have any bounties put on them by other factions. It is really useful for bounty hunting in anarchy systems.

From my experience using the Kill warrant scanner gives you a bigger reward in CC then without it. It is definitely worth the slot space in my opinion.

I've reconfigured my controller enough the only thing that may still be the same is holding x and pressing either rb or lb depending on how many fire groups you have. You don't have to wait for the radial menu, you just need to hold x for a second or two (waiting is hard in a fire fight). If your looking for chaff and heat sink you can bind those to different controls in the options menu and not have to switch fire groups to use them.

Wow. That's one hell of a necro... O_O

forgive my ignorance RB ?

RB is right bumper. You can switch between fire groups (if multiple fire groups have been set up) by holding X and tapping left bumper or right bumper. That's what the default binding is anyway (unless, as Godnamedthor has suggested, those defaults have changed since the olden days)
