I really think the level of detail in the announced character creator is great, totally on par with the high visual standards already established in ED.
I wonder if it will be used for NPC face generation as well, or if it will be restricted to player avatars.
In addition to random/persistent NPCs - here most obviously, but of course not restricted to, passengers - it could also be applied to unique NPCs, like those from the official books (Kahina Tijani Loren from "Elite: Reclamation", Jaques from "All that Glisters...", Julia Cavus from "Elite: Legacy" etc.) or to create in-game models for the leaders of PowerPlay - as similar to the already released portraits as the character creator allows, of course. Perhaps FD could manually design those important characters and even incorporate some unique styling options that won't be available for normal NPCs or player avatars (like chrome parts for Jaques etc.). The models of those important NPCs could later be incorporated into corresponding Galnet news and could even be shown on monitors in special stations associated with the individual characters (Jaques station, Julia at Freeholm etc.)
So what do you guys think? Would you like to see the character creator be put to use to give NPCs a face, too?
What other applications for this cool new tool FD is developing right now can you come up with?
