Charged CG results?

Just wanted to say it feels not really good to see that the recent CG goals were tweaked in favor of Empire faction.
Despite Marlinists faction has more Commanders and collected more bonds, the Imperial faction won the CG.
Probably it was an attempt to "balance" CG after the Liz Ryder's one, but it really feels unfair and meaningless. Basically not community have chosen the result, rather developers themselves.
So why it was needed to wrap this plot in a CG instead of just telling us via GalNet?

tl;dr Please don't do asymmetric CGs, it feels really discouraging. I'd want a fair win or lose.

You prefer CGs that are over on the first day?
If you can read OP, I want CG with equal goals for both sides. That's irrelevant to the CG's duration.

If people would read other threads on this, they would find that there was actually logic to what Frontier did (who'd have thought) and the CZs were balanced even though they were not equal.
Are you saying CZs for Empire-pledged commanders were more complex? Well, if that's the thing - then it's kinda ok, but it's not obvious at all, while the different goals are visible and discouraging.

No, I think they’re saying this:

You’re late to the party, my friend.

In a parallel galaxy there are a bunch of threads about how the full might of the Admiral of the Imperial Fleet was defeated by a minor system faction because there was no ‘realistic’ power disparity.
That would not be about CG at all.
The frustration because of the inconsistency. Making this event to be a CG? Great, should have equal goals.
Want to advance the plot into specific direction? Great, post a GalNet article with no CG.

You think FDev would hand the reins of the storyline to us?! Have you been here before?!

This CG was a chance for players to involve themselves in the story in a minor way and have the chance to blow stuff up for reasons other than because it’s fun 🤷‍♂️ the Marlinists were always going to get beat down, but the chance to see Admiral Pattycakes with egg on his face was too good to miss, however slim. Let’s see where it goes next, seeing as we’re only a couple of weeks into this narrative. Unless you’ve got a crystal ball I can borrow.

Look beyond the absolute values, look at the percentage of completion values. Both sides stayed toe to toe at roughly the same percent throughout most of the CG duration. When you opened the mission board, you'd see both sides at basically the same pixel of the progress bar. That is when anyone's effort can make the difference.

Meanwhile, at equal goals you have a side take a considerable lead on the first day that will only get multiple times bigger as it actively discourages participation for the losing side. To that I say they could just not have a CG and make a forum poll or decide it through only sign ups.

There is a reason that when you vote, you do so blindly without being shown what the current votes are.

But it was exactly the opposite - showing that players are NOT involved in the story.

Well, the previous one was really rigged in favor of EBM...
Except it wasn't. As far as I remember, the contribution goals was equal for factions. Just most of the commanders have choosen the right side (and the missile rack).
I'd be completely ok if this time Empire offered some cool reward and most commanders would switch the side - THAT would be balance, with the same outcome (or not?), but with no disappointment/discouraging.

Dude, what is the real problem here?

It's a narrative, a story. It has been written for months in advance at the minimum. It was one of those occasions where the story was already known as a result - because of whatever is coming up. We have no idea what this is, but I doubt you'll begrudge it when it happens.

The point of having a CG is to involve us in the story. They will have known the approximate participation balance, so unless something really weird happened, they didn't need to rewrite months worth of stories, or change future dev plans!

The alternative to this, was having a galnet story, and no CGs this week - don't you think that would have been a bit crappy? Do you think other people would have been pleased with this?

And that's despite all the other threads on this.... I appreciate it has upset you, but think of it from the other perspective, and I hope you'll see the point that people are making.
