Talking of exploration, do you envisage finding a new system and instantly knowing what planets/moons etc are there or will it remain 'dark' until someone finds them.

Also will the discoverer be known throughout the universe. (news feed possibly)

Hi David I hope to see you soon on Twitch answering questions, anyway I have a question:

Are you focused atm on Federal / Independent side? Why are we not seeing any Imperial ship designs or any content related to Imperial faction?

One interesting question I have. Much of the galaxy will take us a very long time to get to. Are there any plans of implementing any sort of "shortcuts" to different parts of the galaxy such as wormholes? Like something extremely rare but there are some hidden around for us to discover etc?

Like how can we explore the center of the galaxy if it would take a year of gameplay to get there etc?

Hello David,

Firstly thank you for this opportunity, I know your a very busy man.

  1. Walking around your ship and stations is something many of us are eager to see, but what practical in game function will the ability to move around your ship add to the game (beyond, of course, the awesome sense of immersion it will add).
  2. I understand that Station & Ship exploration is planned for an expansion, is this expansion a certainty or is it dependant upon the profitability of the initial Elite Dangerous release?
  3. You recently tweeted a picture of yourself playing Elite: Dangerous whilst wearing the Oculus DK2, can you please describe this experience, especially in comparison to playing Elite: Dangerous using the Oculus DK1
Thank you in advance sir.

Brodie

David - Is there any timescale on when we might start expanding past the 5 systems we have now? I'm sure many if not all are eager to start testing more procedural generated aspects.

Hello Mr Braben!

Thankyou for one of the two best games ever produced for a computer! (Elite and Frontier: E2)!

I am a huge fan of Frontier: E2, the scale and the sticking to realism just blew me away completely, no other game has come even remotely close in concept ever since. With that in mind when I heard Elite: Dangerous was going to be released I thought all my computer dreams were going to be fulfilled.

However, since production of Elite: Dangerous has started some aspects have purposely been made unrealistic to retain the fun, and frankly it scares me a bit.

So my question is this: With Elite Dangerous, is it your ambition and will you always strive to keep the game as realistic as possible? (With the exception of certain parts (e.g. newtonian physics during combat, visible lasers etc) that understandably would remove part of the fun if kept entirely realistic.)

Thankyou! As a Premium beta backer I am greatly looking forward to the continued development of this game!

Quite late to the party, and here for an slight off-topic but could the 3D asset department post ships models on Sketchfab? So I can show the world that models aren't just cheap arrowheads but great modernization of original designs picking in hard sci-fi instead of Hollywow. :)
