Cheap exploring in an Adder

Hi All,

After a slight drunken mishap....(Save reset) I'm back to bare bones flying again.

It got me thinking about cheap stuff to explore in and the Adder popped up.

Something like this I'm thinking.

But now i'm wondering AMFU or DSS???

It's not really about making credits or explorer ranks but just getting out and about. However a nice credit payout for exploration would be nice at the end of it

If it was me I'd get the Detailed Surface Scanner instead of the Planetary Hanger but I guess it depends what you're doing when you go exploring.

You need the DSS, you probably won't need the AFMU

Thats what I was thinking. I just like to have insurance just in case

But in this instance I thin the increase income from a DSS will be better than AMFU

The last time I made a loop around the bubble, I've done it in the Adder. Lovely ship!

I'd also forego AFMU, flew to Beagle Point and back without issues although I clipped the exclusion zones of stars when flying tired.

DSS. It's not only for credits, it gives you more information on bodies.

drop the afmu, its nice to play with neutrons but not essential, DSS can give you some info on landables for jumponium + extra credits, or.... you could drop some components on the T6 and take that with room to spare, you just need to find another 300k loose change behind the sofa, but it you bought it all from li yong whatever then it would be for the same price as your adder.

just a thought - not optimal pp or fuel scoop but you know its still not terrible!

I've been exploring in an Adder for quite a while, and it's a good ship.

Engineered I get 34 ly. It would be more but I have Enhanced thrusters and A rated PD for when I want some fun near the surface

Unless you plan on doing a lot of neutron boosts (or are even more clumsy than me) you shouldn't need the AFMU.

If you aren't going to use neutron boosts, ditch the AFMU.

I never really used it until I started hopping on the neutron highway.

As I understand it, you don't get any first discovered credit without a DSS.
So, no tags without one, is that correct?

I think you can still get first discovered without it. IIRC from my early days in my exploration Hauler and it's Intermediate Discovery Scanner (boy, those were the days, lol), you need only get a basic scan complete. DSS scans are bonus money.

Correct, surface scan is sufficient for a tag (and the 50% bump on the basic scan price), it does not require a detailed one.

I have thought about the T-6. Surprisingly versitile boat outside of combat. But atm the moment I just want a small ship and if I'm honest I've always liked the look of the adder and that it has the pilot on the correct side.

The T-6 imo is a more advanced explorer than the Adder so I'll grab an adder first then possibly upgrade should I do more of it later.
