cheapest place to buy an asp right now please?

yep just got my bonus for helping the community goal out , and im in the market for an asp , gonna trade in my trusty adder , since i think the asp is a better option . Being newish to this game , i was wondering if anyone knows any cheap asp locations ? Thanks .

being the complete and utter newish type , li long rui is the system i'm searching for right? and thanks for the info :)
He is a galactic power, il long Rui space would be referring to his territory( all of which has 15% off all ships and modules!) rather than a system. Check out https://eddb.io/station if you need a commodity, ship or module that you can't seem to find, check there.

Go to one of these systems; Ethgreze, 78 Ursae Majoris (best option), LP 131-66, or Sobek. You'll need to do missions for a minor faction called Alioth Independents. By completing missions for them, you'll increase your reputation with them. Once you're Allied (the scale goes from Neutral to Cordial to Friendly to Allied), you get a permit which will allow you to travel to the Alioth System. There, at a Orbis Starport named Irkutsk, you can buy the Orca and ASP Explorer for 20% off. From there you'd want to go to a system owned by Li Long Rui, to get 15% everything else regarding outfitting.

only cheaper place is at irkutsk station in Alioth system. 20% off.
Think you need permission to enter?

Okay, that's nice. But getting to Alioth not only gets you money in return but is also a little cheaper.

And technically if he has to take time to travel to get to LYR space, it isn't immediate ("right now") either.

thanks everyone , i appreciate the information - i had elite in the old days ..... god ... that was along time ago . They certainly dont make games like this anymore , love it but can seem a grind if you are starting out . I dont have enough for an anaconda , ive only got about 7 million ... :D

If your buying on a budget do be careful to leave enough for insurance.

For outfitting, allow about 30m cr to fully kit it out. That's assuming you want a big fuel scoop and all the explorer / smuggler toys.

Enjoy the Asp, it's one of the best ships. I still use mine a lot.

Lol flying to li Yong-Rui space isn't right now either. Besides op would appreciate the lower insurance cost that comes from buying it in Alioth. Doesn't take long and is worth it in the long run.

Not sure if it's still discounted there, but I got mine from Li Yong-Rui on Monday night - cost about 20% less. It seemed a few of the modules were cheaper too. Managed to buy and outfit my Asp for just under 22 mil cr. Not bad, considering it should've cost closer to 30 mil cr really.

Li Yong has ships and all modules at 15% off, it's rather nice especially on larger vessels lol.

ok im going to use this thread as a my thread , and im going to ask any questions about my situation :O) righty - here goes . Next question :- d 3 a 3 b 3 ...etc is a better than b? and is 1 better than 2 or is the higher number better ? ie 2 than 1 ? this is all about modules ..etc upgrades . :D - thanks again , btw most have had this game a few months , i just got the xbox one so im newish - again this is totally different to when i played this back in 1980? or there abouts .

The number is the size of the module, higher numbers are more effective while lower ones are less so but lighter. They also go from E to A, A being the best. D is lighter than E, and lighter is better for increasing jump range but the modules themselves are not as good as a C, B, A.

The Asp is a better option. You will know it after your first (post FSD upgraded) mission. If you have been granted the Founders World system permit, Jameson has 10% off everything in stock, ships and modules too and probably one of the largest selections of both (ships & modules) anywhere. I hope you are considering the Explorer version over the Scout. If not, you might want to save your credits and grind as IMO the Explorer version is a better ship in the long-term.

Rare to see any place with an Asp-Scout and an Asp-Explorer (and an Imp Cutter and a Fed Corvette) plus most/all modules all in one place. 10% off a 6.5 million Asp-X hull isn't pocket change, neither is 10% off a 400 million credit A-rated Anaconda build!

(Disclaimer: I am not an expert but) simply: Higher number = Larger module. Lower letter = higher module "class".

A higher number will always be a "larger" module. Different sized modules fit into different sized module "slots" on your vessel. The numbers on the module slots are maximums. It is often possible to place a (slightly) smaller module into a larger slot. Larger vessels have larger module slots available and so obviously can handle larger modules. "Core" module slots are dedicated and cannot be changed i.e.: the Power Plant must always go into the Power Plant module slot, which can be a different size on different ships. There are reasons you may want to mix and match different classes of modules which you will probably have heard about. Other slots are flexible in that you can install various modules of many classes and sizes into them.

The letters refer to the different classes of modules. A-rated is always the "highest" but not always the best for a given application. A-rated power plants for instance are very powerful (lots of spare power), the most thermally efficient (cools the ship, weapons, etc. the best) but also the heaviest at twice the mass (and usually at least twice the cost) of the B-rated module. This is usually consistent across all types of modules.

D-rated modules apparently mass the least (are the lightest) and usually chosen for maximizing jump distance.

A few suggestions about upgrades:
(1) Don't do it until you have enough credit to cover the cost of (your ship and) all outfitting plus enough credit left over in reserve to cover the cost of at least one insurance rebuy, preferably two.
(2) Don't do it just because you have some credits. Don't do it until you definitely need to for some reason: increased cargo cap, increased power cap, more jump distance, etc. Save your credits and grind until you can do it right.
(3) In many cases, A-rated is over-rated for instance, unless you are planning on going into combat (or maybe mining) you will probably not need an A-rated Power Plant. It's heavy.
(4) The exceptions to the above rule are the Frame Shift Drive (FSD) and Power Distributor (PD). IMO all FSDs should be A-rated, period. I believe an A-rated PD is important too in almost all cases.
(5) Depending on the mission, weapons might not be necessary at all. I have left the weapons off several of my cargo ships. Usually wind up putting some back on, though . . .
(6) Shield Generator and Fuel-Scoop should be the largest that can fit but many CMDRs fit smaller modules to save on mass and increase cargo cap. It is a trade-off decision you will have to make. Heck, I can gain 128 tons of cargo capacity if I completely remove the shield generator from my Anaconda. Without a shield generator she can hold up to 432 tons of cargo or more. Never going to happen.
(7) Don't try to do it all with one ship. There is no such thing as an effective trading/hauling/smuggling/combat/mining ship. Outfit your vessel for its intended mission, not missions.
(8) Every CMDR is different! Few ships are identically outfitted even if for the same mission! Advice is great (and abundant!) but make your own way.
(9) Don't spend a bunch of (real $$) money on paint. And just to make it an even 10 . . .
(10) Coriolis.io (Coriolis Shipyard) is your friend. And YouTube!
