Chemical manipulators a masterminded plan

Chem manipulators are a pain in the rear to find,

so when I had a lightbulb moment in my head I was extremely excited and started rubbing my hands together at all the manipulators I would have floating around and I could place them all in a giant swimming pool and jump into it like scrooge McDuck

well it turns out it was more like Peter griffin jumping into a hard solid non liquid material :(

so the Idea!

Where might T9 space cows hang about grazing grass casually awaiting to be murdered... Famine systems... yes, and if that famine system just happened to be in an anarchy state...

well as I flew 100ly or so in a corrosive cannon python to melt their hulls I was counting the manipulators in their hundreds.

I entered the system, there was big bertha and other aptly named T9's Boom went the first unsuspecting T9, and another and another, but... no materials

NO MATERIALS :(

back to the drawing board I guess...

but...

In other news I spent some FSD rolls on a 4A drive and maybe it was the ice-cream I bought felicity or the sweet talking, or perhaps she was sick of seeing me, in any case I could either rejoice here or cry... 55.2% and a fuel increase... and and and a tiny mass...

put it on my scout and...

sadly I couldn't change other parts as Jameson memorial is in lockdown currently and I couldn't be bothered transferring ships about.

put it on a dolphin and...

but... had it been on my DBx and a class 5 it would have been amazing... why o why did I roll on 4A's

I'd better start flying a dolphin I think!

I thought they were hard to get, then I went to an Anarchy system... and got 18 in three game sessions, maybe a couple hours each session mixed up with some miscellaneous anarchy system NAV point, HRES and interdiction shenanigans. I don't know at what point something in a game is considered a 'grind,' but I don't feel it was one

Where were you looking for them, how long did you spend?

I've tried various methods, combat aftermath USS's Anarchy Haz res, and you can sometimes pop 5-6 T9s before seeing even one Chem manipulator its all random, and I've harvested a fair few hundred of them so far to know they're a pain in rear!

in fact im 2% from dangerous Combat rank solely down to manipulators alone, I don't touch combat otherwise!!!

Time wise, on average 12 per hour at most. I have had extremes ever side though of 30ish in an hour to 0 in an hour.

arsenic, datamined wakes any day... chem manipulators make me shudder.

You can get 12 to 30 in an hour and it makes you shudder? Sounds like you're just sick of playing the game, because I'd be happy with those numbers

this is number of manipulators divide it by 3 for actual found materials,

12 is also an average which runs from 0-30, more often than not siding towards 0 hence the 12.

Huh. I'm the opposite of that. Datamined Wake Exceptions hate me, my average is not even 1 (well, 3) per hour. Chemical Manipulators on the other hand, I had some 50+ without even looking for them - IIRC I was dropping into Encoded Emissions and Degraded Emissions looking for something else and kept finding them (I think they were in Degraded more than Encoded...)

go to a famine system and distribution centre, there are wakes galore to scan! they're still rare but the amount of wakes you can scan per hour is impressive!

Outbreak anarchy systems were where I got my chemical manipulators from, they dropped just fine for me...actually finding a system with a convoy beacon that spawned was my problem..but once I did, I murdered T9 's by the bushel.

interesting I assumed because the T9's I killed in a distribution centre didn't drop anything, and I mean anything just empty space in the contacts tab, that this would be the same anywhere else in set spawn locations, unless this is some how bugged?

thoughts?

no matter where you kill the T9's they should drop something right?

Never tried a distribution center...But I was getting them like a dozen at the time at the convoy beacon. It took a few minutes for them to spawn after resetting the instancing, but it was like clockwork. And they weren't winged up or anything, just sat there like large targets, only moved at all once you started shooting at one.

I have a trick for getting chemical manipulators. I go to a good sized anarchy system with a haz res and mine the miners. T9s, pythons and dropships are particularly good tsrgets. Asp Explorers are pretty good. Even an Asp Scout or keelback will occasionally drop it.

I just check the modules: Refinery? Score! Interdictor? Igonore.
