Chieften & the Pelican (from Halo)

I think it's a gentle nod to another franchise, and sets a bit of an aesthetic for alliance ships. Not a bad one, to be fair. Which is more than Alliance deserve, imho. ;)

It's a hive mind thing among designers. have you noticed how all cars are starting to look the same. the most talented car designers (apparently) Fomula 1 - dont get me started

May I introduce you to the polaris slingshot? 3 wheels, and no doors.

Which is an obvious rip off of the robin reliant which was an ‘upgrade’ (term used loosely :D) of the Messerschmitt

as I keep telling my 15 yr old numb skull nephew NOTHING IS NEW it’s all been thought of and done before and usually far better. Though not much I can say when his reply is “why do you upgrade your phone then” cocky little know it all

If anything, Halo ripped off Aliens...

Given the gold cockpit I'd expect the default paint job to be green. In-store purchase for Red and Blue options. :)

they should keep it in the simple grey colours we have already seen, it looks quite cool and militaristic as it is, if not I'd definitely pay for this paint job from the store

Implying this design originated with the Halo franchise is like saying Tolkien invented elves.

There are about a dozen sci-fi franchises that copied dropship from Aliens and even that depiction was a combination of already extant elements (and strongly resembled several real, and prior sci-fi, aircraft).

Yeap, it's like how all cars are a ripoff of the model T. I mean 4 wheels, doors, ridiculous.

Which was a ripoff of earlier cars and even 4 wheel wagons and buggies with the motivational power out in front... Heck, even the assembly line wasn't Fords inventions, someone else came up with that idea (in Sweden, I think) and used it for car production.

Pretty much anything that is new is really just re-done old...

Im going to regret saying this, but it really has a Star Citizen design vibe to me

Crikey Goose, wish you hadn't said that, I hadn't even considered it and now it cannot be unseen.

A couple of side notes,

1 - Is it possibly okay that ED finally nicked something back off of Fidelity Roberts?

2 - Can I now start a 'oh my godz, don't make ED SC' copycat/doomsday thread?

:D

Agree with you. Star Citizen must of made ED mad...

I just looked through the ships and there is one that has a slight resemblance to it. But really not that similar. I have to say I am not a big fan of the artstyle of the SC ships. And I have the game.
