"Choose Your Star" Warp Travel

I know every experienced commander knows my sorrow when I talk about this.

Problem:

Going to binary, trinary, or otherwise multiple star'd systems, can be a real drag. I've noticed that Elite: Dangerous has spanned the majority of stations around stars with the most mass, or the ones that you always warp into after traveling through hyper space. However, in a very high number of star systems, there are planets, outposts, stations and bodies that some players will never go to, but otherwise would if they were closer. Warping into a system after accepting a faction mission only to find that the station you are asked to go to is 200,000ls away can be really disappointing. This game has SO MUCH potential, but it's ruining itself with this feature. I understand that this may have been added for pirating purposes, as pirates will wait for players to warp into a system, but the amount of players that are actually pirates ingame is incredibly small.

Solution:

The great thing about this is that it's not something outrageously unrealistic like other suggestions - the technology is there. When you choose a destination and warp to it, you can also optionally choose a star or other super-massive body to warp directly to. When warping from system to system on a multi-jump trek, the game wouldn't even ask for the star and just warp to the most massive one (like default). Also, to even the odds and add a new area of ED's economy, there could be special modules that allow for this style of jumping, or even modules that allow you to jump to smaller yet still massive checkpoints like gas giants. These solutions are easy, and the possibilities are endless. Please, Frontier I speak for the whole of the community here!

TL;DR:

When you warp to a system it only takes you to the most massive one. Some stations are on other stars in this system, but very very far away. This needs to be changed by allowing for being able to choose which star to warp to.

Thanks for reading, I hope I can change something in the game by writing this thread! Tell me what you think of the idea in the comments.

Helllloooooo!
I've made this suggestion, as have many others, many many times before me.

It's a common request, usually met by "No thanks", with usually no explanation as to why they don't like it. Or even fierce defence of why supercruise for an hour is fun. When it's clearly not. Lol

However!

No thanks... Lol

But here's why;
I came to realise recently, that ED is huge(obviously), and it's huge on purpose.
Sure, as of right now (2.1), supercruise travel over long distances is basically a huge waste of time.
I have no arguments there. I usually end up reading these forums, reading real life news, or making a coffee or something to eat. Or even hang up my laundry. Lol

However, I believe FD are going to fill in that gap eventually, with more things to do, and hopefully, the ability to walk around your ship and fiddle with things.

So while I get that currently, supercruise beyond 100,000ls is dull, instead of asking for a shortcut, ask for something to do instead.
Otherwise, if FD give us the shortcut, we may then end up complaining that there is no time to do all the walking around we wanted to do.
However, (again), if FD pull the plug on walking around our ships, then I would like a way to hyperspace to a secondary star, as there is currently no gameplay between to two stars.

Food for thought!

This is something FDev have taken to discuss internally....is what they said forever and a moon ago.

In my estimation, it seems that there has been a line drawn on this one. I don't think they are anywhere near making a decision on it, but we'll never know until they tell us.

I'm against changing the long SC feature.
This means that you can go places others rarely travel and maybe find things others can't/don't.
I do however think FD should look towards making it worthwhile in some way.
Currently, for example, station prices are not much different from those at a station much closer to main star.
If prices were a lot higher to sell and much lower to buy it might be worth the trip.
Also missions could pay much better than normal. Especially as you will need to return to place to collect payment.

So, in agreement with some people here, make the content fill in the gap.

Just my thoughts.

Here a thing there thousand of players that like the long hall. It comes down to user looking at the mission and doing their research frist. If they use system map and go oh hell no that too far. You don't have to accept that mission. If it a undefined system. You can pay for the data view the system map. It not that hard to do and could save you a lot of trouble. You can also drop mission. If they are not worth the travel time. With a small rep lost and stolen cargo.

No you speak for your self a few other people. What about THE HUTTON ORBITAL TRUCKERS (REPRESENTED BY VINGTETUN) Do you really speak for the whole community? It sure don't sound like it. There other groups that don't mind traveling long distance. The HUTTON ORBITAL TRUCKERS have over 1,000 users on face book.

This is where the system Map buying system exploration Data comes in handy. Use those features combine with the Mission payout comes into play.

Mission payout + Distance = Is this worth you doing it.

Repped not only because it's been said before, but this current Fed vs Imp Pleiades War CG needs this.

Some Community Goals require incredibly long trips. I think this suggestion would greatly aid that problem.

Proxima Centauri warp-in point can have a permit requirement which can never be obtained.

Or dumb down the game depending on who you are talking to. I headed to Jaques station which take weeks to get to. I know to my calculations It going to take me 910 Jump for me to get there. Unlike most of you I am not going to whine about how long it going to take me to get there. If I find system with Earth like systems and they are 300ly away. I still not going to whine about the distance. It just going to depend on how lazy I feel on that day. If other people discovered the system or not. Might depend on if I go that extra distance. If I get 50% extra credit because no one been there. That also might determine if I fly that distance to that Earth like world

It the same thing with Missions and Stations distance.. If it only 40K that I earn. Then I might not accept that mission. But I do have a CHOICE. I not going to ask Frontier to dumb the game down.

Players Use what in front of you. Galaxy Map and System map and find out the distance of a station. Judge Credits vs distance before accepting a mission. It better then Accepting a mission then complain about the distance afterwords.
