Engineers CIF Farming Guide

I've tried for the first time scanning one of those landings. I'm at Liadein since I wasn't able to land at Mbukuravi. I just can't climb up the wall with my SRV. How do you do this? I have full pips to eng and still the power is not enough.

If you check the missions everywhere you go, you will find CIF as rewards.

I've picked up 9 in the last few days just doing business as usual but scrolling through missions. Just got 2 as an assassination reward.

You might need to take a "running jump" at the wall/incline try to hit near the top, especially if your on a high G world. Sometimes you can scan from the bottom if you're within range. Takes practice :)

On the L1M map, go towards the wall where you have to climb, and jump, then angle so you land on the slope, then just go up. Or stay back and speed towards it and jump(I made it on 3rd go) to hit the top.

Cheers for that, yes I read that somewhere but I do like the take offs/landings and scannings :)

Here's a nice little list I found . . .

Have they recently put daily quotas on CIF ? My 2 day results are very suspicious !!!

Each settlement results comma separated :
Yesterday : 3,3,0,3,0,0,0,0,0(I stopped)
Today : 6,0,0,0,0,0,0(Stopping now)

ITs hilarous. CIF's are 3 grade and are much more hard to find than grade 5 materials.
Maybe Fdev should consider to tweak it a bit?\

I would be glad if someone will look into it: from a full to a half an hour i observed CIF's are dropping more often than from a half to full hour.

I also noticed different drop on different hours. maybe its worth to consider.

Have someone check a dependency of when a planet have day or night. Maybe its coincidence, but whey on planet was day i got cifs' , on night i am getting mef's.

Maybe we should create a ticket - it seems to be wrong with some rng droprate factor in code. May colleagues are confirming the same (we are doing cif's in few people at now).

Ok, now totally confused :D
Results(starting with settlement #20)
0
3CIF(day)
0
3CIF 3MEF(day)
3CIF 3MEF(Night)
6CIF(Day)
3MEF(Night)

So 24 items just today, RNG gods are with me :)

i am doing today from base nr 4 to 29 and got 18 cif's it means 6 drops per 25 bases, it means 0,5 drop per base, and 0.72 cif per base.
I am doing it about 5 hours so it means one drop per hour - 3 cif's per hour.

In meantime i got almost 50 mef's. Something is wrong with a CIF droprate. Its a 3 grade for a God sake. Mef's are 5.

Divergent data scan is 4 grade and i got over 100 of it.

The CIF saga is just silly.

I have supported Kyoku's ticket thread as follows:

Cracked Industrial Firmware spawn remains the single most unpleasant and irritating aspect of 2.1 Engineering, which after more than a year continues to frustrate the player base unnecessarily.

As this ticket proves yet again, this supposedly Grade 3 material, which is crucial to three of the best g5 blueprints, is absurdly elusive compared to hosts of Grade 5 materials.

I know that there has been a recent patch improving mission board spawn but unfortunately the fundamental problem remains the same: whether at mission boards or using tailored lists of settlement bases, supposedly Grade 3 CIF remains the rarest material spawn in the entire game.

Frontier please finally, publicly and demonstrably fix this once and for all.

Thank you.

Perhaps now that the PS4 version of the game is out the door we'll start seeing general improvements/fixes/additions to the game at an *accelerated* pace

Any Tips for Scanning High-Security Settlements?

Going through DeZpe's CIF run list in an Imperial Courier.

Attempted 10 medium-security stations.
Success Rate: 100 %
CIF Drop Rate: 10%

Attempted 5 high-security stations.
Success Rate: 0 %
CIF Drop Rate: n/a

Highly sought CIFs are suspected to be in abundance from high-security stations. Coincidentally, they're the ones I have difficulty completing.
I saw the videos on how-to, but when I try, I lose lot of valuable time maintaining the upright orientation of SRV while airborne. Running at high speed on the ground almost never fares well in a low g environment, because the rough terrain causes the vehicle to spin out of control. But if I slow down, then I lose out on time. Seems like a no-win situation.

To those of you who can complete high-security stations reliably and consistantly, got any tips for me?

Yes, do the four known M6H bases. They have the highest possible drop rate of about 75%. I have them nailed.

Take an Anaconda or similar and 8 x SRV's.

Look at the map.

Practice scooting in and scooting out of the trespass zone, until you can get the first three or so data points scanned and still be clean (because you stopped trespassing in time).

Then go for the rest, accepting you will maintain trespass and hence be under fire, 4 pips to shields and spam repair hull as necessary.

Drive fast but not too fast. Never get airborne.

Expect your SRV to blow up just after you scan the last data point. If it doesn't, ram it to death against a wall, because recalling your ship just slows you down.

Good luck!
