All very amusing I'm sure, but you might want to get someone to add a [Humour] tag on the thread title. Right now all anyone sees is a "Clarification needed" thread with an orange Developer Reply icon, but with zero useful content. In the current climate that's not just misleading, it's borderline inflammatory.
I have to agree with this.
This ship teleportation issue is mindboggling and it frustrates me that you guys in charge could possibly consider it a good step forward.
There are SO many other,
better ways to improve the "accessibility" of Elite Dangerous.
A few off the top of my head:
- Faster supercruise acceleration and deceleration
- Faster hyperspace transitions
- Faster load times
- Interactive non-video tutorial explaining how to do each and every activity available within the game
- Ingame encyclopedia containing much of the necessary ingame information currently haphazardly strewn across the elite wikipedia, inara.cz, the forums here, reddit, and elsewhere
Instant ship teleportation with a pricetag is NOT it.
It needs to at *least* be believable and take a matter of a few minutes, however long it would approximately take a "buckyballer" to jump from point A to point B.
Honestly, you'll be causing more work for yourselves going with instant ship teleportation than not.
If ships can instantly teleport anywhere in the galaxy for a few credits, then there's absolutely no reason we can't teleport *with* those ships.
Same goes for the module transferral. There's no point shopping and visiting around the hundreds,
thousands of inhabited stations finding just the right part if you can just park at 1 location and order whatever you like, whenever you like, and have it instantly appear on-demand.
What's the point of having supercruise at all if ships have the ability to instantly appear at any location?
Ship teleportation = you might as well rebrand Elite Dangerous as Elite: No Man's Sky Edition.

TL/DR: You've made every other aspect of this game as believable as possible. This new feature of ship transferral needs to be as believable as possible, too.
edit: P.S.: The megathread poll has more than 1800 votes in it, with
over three times as many CMDRs wanting *some* kind of believable delay, compared to those who are okay with it being instantaneous. Just want to point that out.
