Clarification please - Exploration Update - Scanner Confusion

I'm preparing an exploration ship in anticipation of the exploration update. Could someone please clarify the following re the scanners for exploration after the exploration update (now in beta). My understanding:

- I will still need a DS (discovery scanner) but it will be inbuilt (i.e. it won't use an optional slot and it can't be installed or uninstalled)?
- I will still need to install a DDS (detailed surface scanner) in an optional slot, although it will work differently to the current version?

If I don't have a discovery scanner already installed in an existing slot for any reason will it just appear in tis own slot after the update?

I'm not playing the beta (deliberately) so forgive my ignorance. :)

AFAIK this is how things are planned :

- your "Basic/Intermediate/Advanced Discovery Scanner" will vanish from all your Ships that carry any, you'll get refunded (no Credits lost) and you'll find your Exploration Ships now have that Internal free
- the "Discovery Scanner" will be found as a new fixed Equipment in all of your Ships (similar to the "Data Link Scanner" appearing when it was introduced) at no cost, so there's your FSS Mode and DSS capability from far away
(it occupies no Slot, just have to manually check Fire Group and/or Keybinds to be setup to put it into action)

- The "Detailed Surface Scanner" AFAIK will remain onboard unchanged (or has to be equipped when building an Explorer), with the only addition of now being able to fire Probes

At least that's how I understand how it's supposed to work.

Forgot : I've read somewhere that there's a Warning for all Explorers to dock and sell their Data before V3.3 goes live.

Can't find the Source for that at the moment - but if that'd hold true might be the only big item Explorers currently on tour should keep a very close eye on.
Others would have to back me up on that, since I'm not 100% sure.

Huh, didn't hear anything about that.

While I haven't heard this myself, I would recommend selling your data before the update, just in case.
Plus you can potentially take a new ship, like the Krait Phantom on your next trip.

Safe, than sorry, and all that.

That's not something I'd put too much stock in as it tends to surface with each upgrade. It's possible, but highly unlikely.

Given that there are people out in the black on very long expeditions FD would be in for a lot of anger if data was lost.

Did anyone get a credit for their repossessed ADS? I am pretty sure I didn't get a refund on the multiples I had on ships and in storage
