You enjoy the repetitive jumping, many do not. You're entitled to your option, I'd prefer a one jump to any star exploration drive. But I don't ask for because it will break the game. Passenger missions and other mechanics are tied in to the travel time grind.
It funny you started out about Explorations but when I pointed out your faults you went to passenger missions. Guess what. They give you a lot of time so you can do Both Exploration and Passenger mission just a quick scan of the FSS you can tell if they're good planets to scan. With the Neutron stars, you still get up to 300% of your normal jump range. So your idea still fails.
:p A few days money grind to reduce years of travel grind. I made them expensive so people would not complain as much about power creep, did not work.
Note I made 1 Billion Credits in a day. 4 Days of Grind for 4 Billon credits is no skin off my nose.

Maybe a new mechanic for expl

I get it, you can jump constantly for hours, make a billion credits a day. You like the grind. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm exploring a region and looking for guardian ruins, my last 30 or 40 jumps were about 8ly'ish in distance, I don't see anything to do with repetitive jumping in exploring, repetitive jumping tends to be touristing mostly. I can do one jump to any system I want to explore at the moment, it's just that they all happen to be a few light years away.

Price point does nothing to change the fact they're fundementally broken and overpowered with stats like that.
Yeah, overpowered was bound to come up and most people will probably agree with you. If someone suddenly said after Elite Dangerous just launched that we would get 11.5ly FSD booster and engineering to allow you the Anaconda to jump +80ly, people would of said the same thing.

The question is, what would peoples cap be on max jump range?

Why not just a Guardian FSD hybrid better jumprange than the standard class but less than a fully engineerd special effect aClass one with the guardian power distribiteur and guardian booster both adding better jump range.
The more guardian core internals the better your guardian equipment works.

Yes another gamer with common sense.

Sounds good, but we are back to the problem of how much the the jump range will boost. An extra 80ly if we have the Guardian PP, PD, FSD and booster installed.

Maybe 1 or 2 LY. Not 20 or 40 or 80 ly. Because that too extream. Why go to Beagle point if you can get to it in a half hour.

Oh no, we really should get two variants:

Class 6: Reduce your hull weight to 50t for the FSD drive, but cause 40% hull damage for each jump

Class 2: Reduce your FSD weight by 20t, but cause 2% FSD Module damage per jump

😇

Class 6:
As long as the variable that hold the value of the ships hull is a double float. I can keep jumping until my hull is a tiny fraction. Each time your current hull value is reduced by 40%. You can come back weeks later with a hull with 0.000...1 hit points left.

Of course, we should have a jump cause 2000 points thermal damage to hull :) I always wanted to see fireproof explorers.

The guardian power distributor ads about 10% to any power generators output.
I think if they do the same to a guardian hybrid FSD and add the Fsd booster it would not be to over powered only adding 10 % to the base jump range.

This is also used for armour resistance hull reinforcements and shield boosters which only boost the base values of the ships armour or shields. not the total amount of armour.

As the guardian powerplants output is one about one class higher than standard A rated Powerplants. A simular mechanic for a guardian FSD is not difficult to do.

For example adding a size 6 guardian FSD hybrid with the optimum mass of a class 7A human FSD (going from 1800 optimum mass to +/- 2700 optimum mass its about the same as a Class A6 tier 5 engineerd FSD with deepcharge)

Ad a guardian Power distributor /guardian powerplant Adding 10% to the optimum mass of the FSD making it 2970 optimum mass,
Ad the guardian booster and you get 10 ly above that.

You will get a little bit better jump range than the Engineerd FSDs but fuel boosts will be less efficient and Charging the FSD will heat you up faster and costs more fuel to use..
+side is you dont have to engineer every single FSD when buying a new ship.
