Classic ship request to dev

Just think of a Snake that's higher up in rank than an FDL in terms of raw strength that's not already a ship in the game.

Boom. Luxury Version XD

Personally I'd rather see some officially licensed ships from other sci-fi platforms, now I might actually pay to have those in the game...
The Rocinante from the Expanse or a Minbari cruiser from B5 would be at the top of my shopping list.
I know it's for a completely different game, and I apologise to Frontier for essentially promoting this, but what you ask for has already been done ...

screw the classics we I want this;

Not sure what this would accomplish. Barely anyone would fly these oldies, as the current iteration would be better. If not, why did they make a new iteration in the first place ? I could see the old ships as fluff flown by NPCs, enriching variety (on this subject, why the heck do NPCs not use any shipkits ?), but they'd be pushovers. Plus some players would demand to be able to fly those ships.

Cobra Mk4 stoppped by to say hello.

Not everyone

I would love to see the 'luxury' version of the Fer-de-Lance. It's mentioned in the description of the FDL.

The one in game is the Luxury version

The Elite Era ship was discontinued during the FE2/FFE Era and the one we have now is the release as a joint ZPG Saud Kruger collaboration

I've come to the conclusion that griefers and cheaters should not be shadow banned. They should be only allowed to fly an E-Rated Cobra Mk IV for a month and only in open. #CobraIVisPay2Lose.

Seriously though, there are a couple of classic ships I'd like to see;-
  1. Moray Star Boat
  2. Imperial Explorer (with the Tri-Wing Design)

An old ship would proabably have old equipment in it. Stuff that others considered obselete might well still be fitted and in working order...

It would be really nice to see a few old classics in game, just like if you drive around you occasionally see an old classic car. It would bring some life to the galaxy because what happened to all the old ships? Did they all get crushed and turned into new ships? Surely some oddities would survive?

Exactly this. Apply a little of the procedural generation magic and generate a history for all vessels, and then make it possible to buy used ships at a discount depending on rarity, lightyearage, rebuy count and other factors, including (non-transferable) paintjobs, or buy rarely seen vintage models at a markup. Who wouldn't want to run a mint 3112 Cobra Mk3 in 'Amiga Port Indigo'* with the original 'slash' canopy and the old Lance & Ferman missile rack? Any difference would be purely cosmetic, it would be purely for feels. But E:D is a game built around a database; why not use the information we generate playing the game to add some history to vessels.

*Galaxy Map nerds are searching for 'Amiga Port' with only slightly less fervour than Raxxla.

Perhaps they could sell proper ship kits, like you get on the roads where you take the chassis of some rubbish cheap car and put a porsche-shaped fibreglass shell on it.

"Yeah, it looks like a Mimbari battle cruiser, but it's a sidewinder inside. It's got a bit more armour but the shields are over-stretched and it drives like a tank."
