Clipper or Dropship? Which Faction should I choose if I like Hunting?

Clipper, it won't perform at its best until you sink a lot of money into it she's expensive. Significantly cheaper as a trader which you will need to do a lot of to outfit her.
the dropship is aweful.. I've flown both maxed out, trust me the clipper is far superior in every way. On top of that I still own one.
it will haul more, has greater firepower, handles better, and is significantly faster. As an extra perk it sounds amazing.
the flopship flys like it's always got flight assist off, is slower than molasses, does have nice hardpoint locations but weak punch comparatively, can land at outposts, and can't haul very much cargo.
its just terrible.
Now while the corvette looks amazing the imperials will be getting the Panther clipper both will be more expensive than the conda so you have time to rank up in both.
Clipper now flopship later.

Ive entertained these dropship vs clipper threads far to long, how about some pvp let our actions be the deciding factor, I'm all out of words.

Interestingly this is the second throw down from Cmdr Mister5150 and none of the those proud owners of the clipper have accepted his plain challenge.

It instead remains so silent I can hear only crickets in response.

Makes me want to get the dropship ;-)

PS- Be sure to post battles to YouTube and link here please. If any clipper captains ever accept that is.

I have flown both and the clipper is great for hauling, but don't dare to ever try to fly it without shields.
9 out of 10 landings for me are hard landings.

Call me mad but i love the drop ship and will pick it in a heartbeat. it handles well and sounds great.
Its geat at pew pew and there is just a lovable heart in it, it knows its place in the universe. (i want shark tooth's on mine)
Not like my clipper that is cold hearted slaver. (nice looking thought but cold)

Try both if you can when next patch comes.

Dropship is surprisingly non awful. I've took it for a spin (total cost around 90m, and i forgot the military armor, so probably should be over 100) and all i got is this lousy video of two dropships kinda fighting. Obviously it was spoiled by players on both sides of the fight, so see for yourself, i've yet to have a honest 1vs1.

Dropship is worse in alsmost everything. Its only advantage is slightly stronger shields, hull and the harpoints placement. Clipper is MUCH faster, more manouverable, and can haul 240 tons of cargo (with weak shields, of course).

One word: Corvette.

I'd personally rank up both. I can't see the Imperial Courier beating the Corvette but it's always good to have options.

I've noticed most clipper owners base their observations on npc interactions, I play in open, no wing, with cargo, I've never died to a clipper, they only run gimballed or turrets, they have poor weapon convergence and the hull is taco meat, the clipper is an attractively fast cargo ship that is it. Some in this thread claim they have owned a dropship yet inaccurately discribe it's ACTUAL characteristics, not based on paper. Dropship is not perfect but I'll take it anyday over a clipper in combat.

The Clipper is a fighter jet. Fast and mean. Can chase down any ship currently in the game due to its incredible ability to boost so often. The drophip is more like a tank. Can dish and take a lot if damage but requires support ships to be effective.

By "chase down," you mean "run away from," right?

Well,

I bought a Fur De Lance instead, lol :( So far I'm not super happy with it since I don't have the 13 million credits to buy the Huge Plasma Accelerator. I'm now thinking Python. or one of the previously discussed ships.

Just for the record it's cheaper to upgrade the FDL than either the clipper or the python. Might want to hold onto it.

I've been using the Dropship for a couple of days now and its surprisingly awesome. It might not be the best, but it has been a lot of fun. It's also surprisingly maneuverable with flight assist off. I haven't bumped into a rock even once. I haven't even tried using rail guns yet.

Some people say you can't dictate a fight with it, because it's too slow. Don't forget only another Dropship, an Anaconda or an FDL can mass lock a Dropship.
I've been interdicted by other players a handful of times and every time i just went "lol" and went on my way.

And above all, it looks amazing with this paint job.
