Close Quarters Championship - Time exclusive for XBOX ONE

As a Kickstarter backer I think its a great idea. A lot of teenagers now play esports types of games with their "team", ED wouldn't be something they would normally look at. ED is not the sort of game you would normally see on console, so CQC offers a bridge to the game. I would like to be playing it, because its ideal for someone like me with little time to just dip into, have a quick bout of pew pew and log off again. In my view its about encouraging more players to the galaxy and that is what ED needs.

Well said

CQC sounds no different to arena tournaments and championships in other MMOs, really. Not a bad thing in my opinion.

I might even try it myself once it comes to my PC, and maybe I can flash my Founder backers decal on my fighter while taking part. (I wonder if my named space station in Futhark will be hosting a round of the championship?)

If rewards from CQC can be used in the main game, such as credits or free commodities, then it might make it even more attractive.

More money for Frontier it's all good in the end. We knew there would be a console exclusive and this fits the bill perfectly imho. And we will get it as a free update, though not my cup of tea.

I think I made an xBox sale tonight with a mate in work too, can I get comission FD? Or a Del-Boy decal?

I think a lot of PC people don't care at least on the forums. People tend to meet up if they want organised PVP so all CQC is going to do is add gimmicks and balance the stuff ideally.

The major thing most PC people will care about is not getting to fly the Condor but they could easily rectify that by shoving it into the main game as an in system fighter with a 100% refund value you can get access to for not much and saying here go nuts. (Which will let Trade/explorer players occaisonally try their hands at combat.)

Perhaps the Condor can be the week's first prize for the winner of the various competitions. :p

I wouldn't play it if it came to PC first anyway. I just don't see how it fits into elite. I can safely say I will never use it. It makes sense from there point of view though because they want to encourage Xbox users to the game. I also see why people are against it but what can you do?

Don't be mad, it will probably be full of bugs in the beginning anyways. You'd probably get madder playing the first CQC release and dying because of bugs :D

If it keeps the rabble off the space lanes and in their arenas, I'm all for it. ;)

I'm angry about it and I only bought in just over a month ago. I can't imagine how the original backers feel.

It looks like a shady refocus of the game to make some cash and establish the company better at the expense of the current game's quality & development progress.

Of course, FD could chime in at any point with how they plan to improve the PC version and bring it closer to the original vision of the game.

a.) Who cares?
b.) CQC is irrelevant. For real. Doesn't add anything to the game for me, I don't want it, never wanted it, couldn't care less, should I go on?
c.) Cash infusion is GOOD for us. How? Choose from the following 2 options. You can only have one:

1. Would you have development time put in the PC / Mac version for the next say 6 months, then get the servers shut down permanently?
2. Would you bear the knowledge of some xbox players enjoying this wonderful game for 6 months (separately from you, enjoying an extension you will get later, but anyway it's worthless)? After which you'll get the updates / fixes and the game lives for years to come?

Hm?
