Cmdr Voices in Station Comms Chatter

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere else...

I thought it would be really awesome if FD would allow pre-recorded voice from ED cmdrs in station comms chatter. These would be randomly added to the comms chatter, maybe around the stations where the player has allegiance.

FD could have this as a "product" for sale in the FD store...the higher price paid the more recordings a cmdr could make.

FD?

I'd rather keep the professional voice actors, than hear myself or other CMDRs trying ever so hard to be funny, and break what is otherwise a cool sound effect near the stations. I'd rather the chatter that exists extended through the system a bit further. Hear that kind of radio chatter around a CZ, etc

If we, from Asia, were heard as "comms chatter" you'd have absolutely no clue what we're saying :) Cuz we normally don't speak normal English to one another - we take shortcuts, dropping "the", "is", "are" etc. You'd hear English words but you won't understand what we're saying. Our accents make it even harder to understand us :)

Yes, I am able to write differently from how I speak. When speaking/writing to Westerners I/we use normal English. To ourselves, we start to use creole. Kinda like the Belter language in "The Expanse" TV series... eg if you heard "bossmang" you'd kinda understand the root derivative was from "boss man". But when heard with the Belter accent you'd have no idea what was said without subtitles.

actually I think it would be cool to hear different languages and accents...and remember the comms chatter is often not particularly clear anyway

Mixed feelings about the OP's request for other Commanders, but Obsidian Ant's voice at Obisidan Orbital is one of the coolest things I've heard for 2.4 yet

You know, that really is cool.

When he said,"Hi Guys and Guwls" I was a bit concerned .. and then after a few seconds thought, why WOULD all the announcers be archetypes? .. yeah!!!

I don't know about the OP because I can only imagine most of it being badly recorded filth. But the occasional, competition winners, or name like OA, invited to record at Frontier Heights, works for me.

This whole thread needs a spoiler tag ;)

When I asked about announcers in the beta forum no-one responded, so I assumed I had missed him being introduced in an earlier release[redface]

Ya, I'm with this guy ^^^ as much as I like voice acting I'm not good at it :D and Chances are most players aren't either

And this is a perfect example of why I'd prefer Frontier leave out non-professional voice actors.
Will never be visiting OO now.

A metric hell-ton more professional voice samples + dynamic comms chatter based on a different amount of scenarios (eg: flying too fast through the slot with an NPC passing through and they send a comms: "Slow down ya maniac!" ) + randomly generated comms chatter so it doesn't sound all the same.

A lot of what you suggest is already in the live game

If CMDRs were capable of adding voice content to the comms chatter it would get abused so quickly. How long do you think it would take for trolls to fill the chatter up with every manner of horrible things? Sure, many would provide great comms chatter, but it would only take a few to make it despicable.

At least with text, some measure of reasonable censorship can be applied. Voice recognition is getting there, but depending on how such a feature might get implemented, it probably would inadvertently allow a lot of stuff through that a reasonable person would not want to hear.

In this instance, leave it to scripts and voice actors. So say I, at least.
